Welcome to 28 Sussex Street. Located in the sought-after Pines neighborhood, this luxury coastal home blends classic beach charm with upscale comfort and offers five bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and accommodations for up to 14 guests. Inside, the home features a gourmet kitchen, beautiful hardwood floors, and a spacious rear three-season room that is perfect for unwinding after a day at the beach. Outdoor living is just as inviting, with a rear patio, fenced-in backyard, lush landscaping, a dedicated grilling station with seating, an encased propane grill, and an outdoor shower that completes the ideal beach retreat.
The primary suite on the ground level includes a king bed, hardwood flooring, a flat-screen TV, and a spa-like ensuite bathroom featuring a fireplace and soaking tub. The second level offers another primary suite with a queen bed and TV, along with two additional bedrooms connected by a Jack-and-Jill bathroom. The top level features an expansive recreation room with comfortable seating, a TV, and an air hockey table, as well as the final bedroom with two double beds, making it a perfect space for movie nights, games, or relaxed lounging.
Just one block from Rehoboth Avenue and downtown, the home is approximately four to five blocks from the north end of the beach and boardwalk, placing you close to dining, shopping, and entertainment. Enjoy easy access to Dewey Beach nightlife via the Jolly Trolley, five-star restaurants, and tax-free boutique shopping, all within minutes of the property. Parking is convenient with a private driveway that accommodates approximately three vehicles.
Guests will enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs in every bedroom as well as the living and recreation rooms, a full washer and dryer, an additional freezer and refrigerator in the laundry room, a spacious three-season room, and a generous supply of beach equipment for guest use. Luxury bed and bath linens are supplied, and all beds will be professionally made prior to arrival. Streaming services are provided (no cable). This home rents Saturday to Saturday, is non-smoking, and does not allow pets.

House and location were okay. Communication with host/manager was poor! Very confusing to be switched to a realty company and charged extra fees by that company. We received an inappropriate lease from that company. Posted directions for use of front door lock are incorrect! Unacceptable and confusing!! Who were we really dealing with??!! Re-max or VRBO?? I’ve had past satisfaction with VRBO locally and internationally. Never again will I use VRBO if I’m directed to a realty company!! Disappointed with the shady dealings!!

The house was perfect for our extended family group of seven adults. We particularly enjoyed the screened in porch, which is where we had all our meals, and the outside shower, which was perfect after a day at the beach. The house was in a lovely, quiet residential Neighborhood, yet just about a 10 minute walk from the beach and from the boardwalk. We walked almost everywhere. It’s important to note that the booking is managed by a local real estate office, not by the owner directly. Renters should be on the lookout for email communication from that office once booked via VRBO, which is the best way to communicate about the property (email or phone). Not VRBO messages.

The check in process went as smooth as possible because of Sharons assistance.
The house had a number of issues. A nice sunroom but one of the seats at the table was broken and the rocking bench had something major wrong with it. When we turned the oven on, it bellowed smoke. On inspection the bottom was very dirty. The second bedroom on the second floor was hardly a bedroom. No door. In the hallway. With a skylight directly over the bed. Not the best when you are on a get away to relax. Sun shining in your eyes very early. The upstairs toilet needed repairs so it basically was not usable. Of the two bathrooms on the main floor, the jack and jill bathroom needed a plunger frequently even with doing only number one.
I don’t think we will stay here again especially after all of the beautiful VRBOs that we have used.
