Welcome to Walker's Lanikai Beach House. John Walker, was a Scotsman who made his way to Hawaii as a young man in the 1870's to become a contractor of choice to Queen Liliuokalani, and erect such notable buildings as the Bishop Museum and Honolulu Hale (City Hall).
Mr. Walker's inviting presence is felt in the structure of this, his favorite hideaway on Lanikai Beach. Built in 1934, this enchanting environment transports you back to an era of graceful living, where the worries of the world are lost in the luxury of sea, sand and restful surroundings. Following recent renovations, the house contains just the right combination of added comforts in its updated kitchen, guest quarters and “boat house”, with elements of charm carefully preserved from a richly felt past.
One of the first homes to take advantage of Lanikai’s heavenly reef-protected waters and natural stretch of white sand beach, John Walker’s Beach House set the standard by which the surrounding community grew…a standard which has been nurtured by his family through the years for you to enjoy. Although only with us in spirit, John Walker’s love of Lanikai is preserved by one of his most revered places in the world.
The main house features 3 bedrooms, kitchen and large "great room" with spacious guest rooms. Steps away is the white soft sands of Lanikai Beach with access to the water provided from the front lawn. With a separate entry, the 'guest cottage' located off the entry courtyard features a queen-bedded room and a small parlor with kitchenette (sleeps up to 4). Another private entry "boathouse" sits above the garage - complete with its own living room, kitchen, bathroom and lanai. The "boathouse" also has a loft area with double bed that may be suitable for young children (sleeps 2-4). This is the classic Lanikai Beach House - for those looking for a casual, relaxing getaway on the shores of one of the worlds' best beaches!

I EXPECTED THIS 100 YEAR OLD PROPERTY TO BE A BIT WORN DOWN BUT FOUND THIS LARGE, CLASSIC HAWAIIAN, BUNGALOW IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION.I FOUND THE PROPERTY DESCRIPTION OF THE BEDROOMS CONFUSING. THERE ARE 5, THREE IN THE MAIN HOUSE, ONE IN THE COTTAGE AND ONE IN THE BOATHOUSE. ALL ARE VERY COMFORTABLE. THREE HAVE THEIR OWN BATH. TWO (IN THE MAIN HOUSE) SHARE A BATH. (BTW, THE GARAGE HAS A CODE THAT IS DIFFERENT FROM THAT FOR THE MAIN HOUSE BUT IT APPEARS NOWHERE IN THE NOTEBOOK OF INSTRUCTIONS)ONE IN OUR GROUP OF SEVEN SAID THE PICTURES IN THE PROPERTY DESCRIPTION DO NOT DO JUSTICE TO THE BEAUTY OF THIS SITE, AND I AGREE. IN THE PICTURES YOU DON’T GET THAT THE WHITE PICKET FENCE IS LITERALLY ON THE WATER. AT HIGH TIDE, WATER SPLASHES UP OVER THAT FENCE - THAT’S HOW CLOSE YOU ARE. IT’S WONDERFUL!THE FRONT, MAIN ROOM HAS MANY WINDOWS THAT OPEN TO INVITE THE TRADE WINDS IN, WHICH ARE DELIGHTFUL.STEVEN JACOBS, OUR HOST, WAS EXCEPTIONALLY RESPONSIVE AND HELPFUL. ONE LAST THING: WE HAD A PRIVATE CHEF HANDLE THREE DINNERS AND SHE WAS FABULOUS: ALINE STEINER,, . I highly recommend it.

Our family group of 6 adults and 2 children had a wonderful stay at this property. It was in an ideal location with gorgeous views. The main kitchen was very well equipped with high quality appliances and plenty of plates, glasses, silverware etc. There was lots of room to gather as a group or spread out separately. The property manager was helpful and responsive when needed. We loved a guided kayak tour to Popoia Island with Kailua Beach Adventures, and a hike up to Lanikai Pillbox. We saw numerous sea turtles in the ocean in front of the property. One minor drawback was that when we checked in on a Friday afternoon, both large garbage bins and both large recycling bins were completely full, and recycling bins are only emptied once every two weeks, so we had to store our recyclable items in bags for a week. Otherwise 100% fabulous experience!

The Walker house in Lanakai was amazing. It was everything and more than we expected. Pictures do not do the view of the ocean justice. The house was equipped with everything we needed. I would repeat this vacation over and over. The property management communication was easy and timely. I'd love to keep it our little secret.

Walker beach house was probably one of the few house that still have access to the famous soft sandy beach at Lanikai. We enjoyed the houses easy access to the beach, however, the house was broken in on the 2nd to the last night of our staying, more than $10,000 worth of jewelry and belongings were stolen. There were signs in the house to remind us to lock away our valuables, but my designer bags didn’t fit the small safe in the closet. We filed the police report, and they asked if there is any security cameras installed since the last burglary just a few months ago. We were also told by the police that there were few other homes were burglarized that week. I suggested to the property manager, he said he will bring it up to the owner. We understand this can happen to any where and anyone. We have been coming to Hawaii every summer for the past 20years and this was the first time it happened. I just want to bring this to the owner’s attention to install a security camera .
