About this house rental

Welcome to Walker's Lanikai Beach House. John Walker, was a Scotsman who made his way to Hawaii as a young man in the 1870's to become a contractor of choice to Queen Liliuokalani, and erect such notable buildings as the Bishop Museum and Honolulu Hale (City Hall).

Mr. Walker's inviting presence is felt in the structure of this, his favorite hideaway on Lanikai Beach. Built in 1934, this enchanting environment transports you back to an era of graceful living, where the worries of the world are lost in the luxury of sea, sand and restful surroundings. Following recent renovations, the house contains just the right combination of added comforts in its updated kitchen, guest quarters and “boat house”, with elements of charm carefully preserved from a richly felt past.

One of the first homes to take advantage of Lanikai’s heavenly reef-protected waters and natural stretch of white sand beach, John Walker’s Beach House set the standard by which the surrounding community grew…a standard which has been nurtured by his family through the years for you to enjoy. Although only with us in spirit, John Walker’s love of Lanikai is preserved by one of his most revered places in the world.

The main house features 3 bedrooms, kitchen and large "great room" with spacious guest rooms. Steps away is the white soft sands of Lanikai Beach with access to the water provided from the front lawn. With a separate entry, the 'guest cottage' located off the entry courtyard features a queen-bedded room and a small parlor with kitchenette (sleeps up to 4). Another private entry "boathouse" sits above the garage - complete with its own living room, kitchen, bathroom and lanai. The "boathouse" also has a loft area with double bed that may be suitable for young children (sleeps 2-4). This is the classic Lanikai Beach House - for those looking for a casual, relaxing getaway on the shores of one of the worlds' best beaches!

This beautiful home went above and beyond. We were all blown away with this home. There were 14 of us, 4 different families and with the layout of the main house and the boat and cottage house, it could not have worked out any better. Checkin was a breeze---and any immediate questions we had were answered right away. The kitchen was better stocked than my own and so much fun to work in. It was also nice to have so many beach toys and items available. If we are ever lucky enough to get back, this rental would be at the top of our list.

Reviewer Comments: Looking for the top of the line on the best beach on Oahu ? ....the Walker House is the place for you!Fabulous location...just like the photo depicts.Everything about the three piece home totally first class....kitchen ware includes everything you could possibly need. Spectacular view out the bay window of the spacious family room. Clean as a whistle. The owner has thought of everything to include two new washers and dryers.It was such fun in 2019 that we all wanted to reprise the experience in 2025.Steven and Patty to very good care of us....flexible and responsive.Note that it is quite pricey but worth every penny if you are looking for a truly exquisite family experience.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Walker beach house was probably one of the few house that still have access to the famous soft sandy beach at Lanikai. We enjoyed the houses easy access to the beach, however, the house was broken in on the 2nd to the last night of our staying, more than $10,000 worth of jewelry and belongings were stolen. There were signs in the house to remind us to lock away our valuables, but my designer bags didn’t fit the small safe in the closet. We filed the police report, and they asked if there is any security cameras installed since the last burglary just a few months ago. We were also told by the police that there were few other homes were burglarized that week. I suggested to the property manager, he said he will bring it up to the owner. We understand this can happen to any where and anyone. We have been coming to Hawaii every summer for the past 20years and this was the first time it happened. I just want to bring this to the owner’s attention to install a security camera .
