Whippoorwill Cabin on the Upper Meramec River

This place is fantastic. Quiet cabin with the river down the road. The deck outside has large gathering area, with a platform swing to enjoy the beautiful view. Emily is a wonderful host, prompt to answer any questions and accommodate our last minute changes. We will be back again!

This cabin was perfect for a sweet family getaway! There was plenty of room for my husband and me, our two teenage boys, and our dog. We particularly loved the easy proximity to the river (a short walk from the cabin!), Adventure Outdoors who outfitted us for a float trip (literally right down the road!), and to Steelville (where we enjoyed Dairy Isle, the park nearby, and a family pic by the canoe-henge installation!). Yet, we still felt the solitude and quiet we were seeking while at the cabin itself! In the morning, we enjoyed coffee on the deck with birdsong and watches turkey and deer strut across the field in the distance. At night, we had snores by the awesome fire pit and listened to the owls hoot. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed to cook family meals, listen to music (loved the CD collection!), and unwind (the swinging bed on the deck was perfect!). If you’re looking for resort-like pampering or pristine 5-star hotel cleanliness, this isn’t for you. But if you want a clearly-loved and appreciated by-the-owners space (we loved the personal touches of the wind chimes, books, painted rock, and decor!) in the woods by a river, this place is perfect and we would absolutely stay here again!

The cabin was super cozy and the property was beautiful. It was perfect for a relaxing get away. I can't wait to go back!

I had an absolutely wonderful time during my stay here. Emily is a fantastic hostess and made everything very easy. She’s extremely friendly and communicative. The scenery is gorgeous with the river behind the cabin. I couldn’t have asked for a better get away with my dogs!
