Ever Green Villa

I had a wonderful stay at Ever Green Villa from February 26 to 28. The owners are an incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming couple. I arrived at 3 a.m., and they received me without any problem, which I truly appreciated. Every morning they prepared a good breakfast, and during the day I was able to use the villa’s bicycle to explore Negombo, which made my experience even more enjoyable. One of the most special moments was when they found out I’m Italian and had worked for several years as a pizza maker — they were so enthusiastic that they bought all the ingredients so I could prepare pizza for dinner! We cooked, laughed, and shared a lovely meal together. It felt more like staying with friends than at a guesthouse.

Honestly, there was nothing significant I didn’t like. My stay was very pleasant overall.

The house and neighbour were quiet. The location was very convenient. The bed and pillow were comfortable and I enjoyed a restful sleep. The owner is friendly, kind, and a person of integrity. I can wholeheartedly recommend Ever Green Villa.

When I travel, I often prefer to stay in local guesthouses to support the local families and experience the authentic culture. I want to make it clear that I'm aware that I'm not staying in a hotel, and I don't expect the same level of privacy. But here I have to admin that the owner was kind of unpleasant on multiple occasions. Before my arrival, I asked if I could pay for the night in advance to secure my room, but he didn't give me a clear answer. When I arrived around 8 pm, I dropped off my bag and have to come back at 11 am and he asked me straight to leave a positive review, mentioning that he had also given me a map…. Quite wired Throughout my stay, he was always short with me whenever I asked for information or help with planning my itinerary. When I asked him about the bus stop, he told me I was stressing too much. The family was loud very early in the morning, and the owner's mother very nice and kind but she was following me to my room, touch my belongings, and snoop around. I didnt mind anyway, actually I gave her a cream from Italy and she was so nice and happy. on my second night internet stopped working, and he told me to use my own data, saying I was an important person (?!) and I could manage it, but after a while he nocked at my door offering to buy a few GB but not to see movies (which I didn’t, I just had to Smart work answering a few emails). He also asked me to pay extra for the bike, which was old and broken, despite it being mentioned as a free service on Booking. When I commented that, he was so upset, complaining all the time not in English. He even asked me to pay 1200 rupees for using the washing machine, which is way more than the usual price of 300 rupees at the laundry outside I was checking out: when I pointed out the discrepancy, he got defensive. Finally clients dont have their own key, so the family was asking me at what time I would have come back (but the nice old lady was always at home to open the door).
