Memories at the Beach is a spacious updated home located a 5-minute walk to the main pier and shops and 5 minutes to the back river fishing pier and kayak launch. The home was constructed during the 1950's as a Mid-Century Modern during the time that Ronald Reagan was hosting the General Electric Theater and was considered a "G.E. Gold Medallion Home". The home was purchased in 2008 and the renovation was completed in 2009. Improvements are made each year. (NEW mattresses in each room.) While preserving the charm of the home the owners added a new metal roof with skylights, bamboo blinds, a bathroom with a large step-in shower, skylight & glass blocks that allow the sun to shine inside while maintaining privacy. The hall bath has a shower/tub combo with a skylight. The 2 bathrooms are convenient to all 3 bedrooms. All 3 bedrooms have queen-sized beds and there is a twin bed in one bedroom (Sail Away) The cottage offers 2 living spaces with new T.V.s, high-speed internet-free WiFi. The floor plan flows with ample room for 2 families to have their own space. The dining room is separate. The kitchen is fully equipped to enjoy a meal should one decide to cook or grill the catch of the day on the charcoal grill in the backyard. The home faces east and the front porch is shaded by grapefruit trees planted by one of the original owners many years ago. The back porch faces west and is just a few steps from the enclosed outdoor shower that is heated. A new stack washer and dryer is just off the back entry. New mattresses. The cottage is pet friendly with a small extra fee. Guests are responsible for any damages and will be required to "poopy scoop" before leaving. The backyard is fenced with a chain-link fence. The entire home including the porches are NO SMOKING. 2 cars have plenty of room to park 3 cars will have room if they are not all large. The front entry room has a love seat, 2 recliners, a desk, chairs, and room for a printer should a guest wish to bring one with them. It is visible in the kitchen. Compact yet fully complete the kitchen features a cooktop, full-size refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Cookware including a crockpot, pots, pans dishes, small appliances, glassware & utensils. The dining room is spacious and has a buffet that allows for serving friends and family with casual beach fashion. The den has a sofa, chairs, fireplace with electric insert, TV a bookcase with local authors and history as well as a selection of beach reading fiction. The cottage will be ready to enjoy upon arrival. Beds will be made and towels furnished except for beach towels. The next morning's coffee is furnished along with real creamer. When leaving the guests are asked to pick up after their pets, leave the beds unmade, and wet towels in the bathrooms or nearby laundry room. Housekeeping will take care of the rest! If you have stayed with us in the past through Mermaid Cottages you know how wonderful this cottage is. We continue to strive for happy guests. If you are concerned about having to cancel a stay for whatever reason please consider travel insurance. We will be happy to discuss the cost and possibly adjust our rate to help with that security. When booking please know that you will be corresponding with one of the owners from the time the reservation is booked, during your stay or afterward. We enjoy personally answering questions about the cottage, Tybee Island or Savannah. Each guest is given their personal lockbox code to enter the cottage upon arrival. That code and information regarding the cottage will be emailed to the guest making the reservation just before their arrival. For concerns regarding the COVID-19 please know that the health and safety of our guests are a #1 priority. Porter House Clean has been caring for our cottage for several years and always receives rave reviews. Just recently a top of the line ultraviolet light was installed into the central system.
