Wadano Gateway Suites & Apartments is well located in Happo within Hakuba. While you cannot drag your luggage through the snow from the nearby Happo Bus Terminal, which's only a mere 6-minute walk away, the lodge has shuttle service to pick one up from either the Bus Terminal or Hakuba Train Station. Once you are properly orientated, you can actually walk easily to Happo central where many of the hotels, restaurant, cafes and some shops are located.
The lodge staff are very helpful and responsive. Whatsapp is used for communication with international guests and many of the young employees are from Australia, on work-holiday visa. However, the reception desk staff are not very conversant with what restaurants are open or the actual "Open Season" when bus services run from Nagano city to Hakuba. That type of information is best obtained from the visitors information center at Happo Bus Terminal.
The suite size is ample, comfortable and well-appointed for short or long-term stays. Laundry facility on site is a huge PLUS!! Breakfast service is also good with varying breakfast entrees every morning.
We will definitely consider this property on future return visits to Hakuba.
