About this cottage rental

Tantramar is a 3 bedroom waterfront heritage cottage which has been carefully restored back to the original character with a covered front porch, large deck, French Doors from the front bedroom with views to the water and a queen size bed. The second bedroom has twin beds, the third - the original Laundry Room is very cozy with a queen size bed.

Tantramar is a five minute walk to the Vesuvius Bay Store, ferry, Seaside Restaurant, and public boat dock. Amenities include down quilts/pillows, fully equipped kitchen (no microwave), a double sided wood burning fireplace, a charming bathroom with claw-tub and shower, wireless internet, and a small Bose Bluetooth speaker. There is (still) no TV' and our beds are made up 'European' Style, with clean, crisp duvets. There are top sheets in the closet for those who prefer them.

Families and pets (with vacuum-friendly owners) are welcome at Tantramar although due to an enforced bylaw pets are not allowed on the beach from June 15 through September 15. Careful smoking on the porches only.

Please note, there is a full gym in Ganges (7 minute drive) and a yoga mat with a few pieces of exercise equipment available at the cottage upon request.

We really enjoyed how comfortable this beachside cottage is. Quiet in October, could listen to waves on the windy side and look at the calm of the bay. Only problem is where to sit! Comfy lounge chairs in the yard, comfy chairs near the beach, comfy chairs on the patio, comfy chairs on the porch, comfy chairs inside. Well supplied kitchen. Will definitely stay again!

We absolutely loved our VRBO. We booked this property for our stay while we attended a photography workshop on the island. Arriving there honestly was so exciting when we saw just how beautiful the location was! Add on the most comfy beds, a gorgeous and deep tub, and views to cherish for a lifetime! 110% recommend ❤️

Another wonderful week at Tantramar. The new patio opened up the beach views (albeit losing some priviacy) and is a nice addition to the extensive outdoor seating. As always, everything in and out was in excellent condition.

My sisters, Mom and I had a 2 night stay at Tantramar Cottage. It was perfection - a cozy fire, a lovely view, great access to everything. But no need to go anywhere - loads of beautiful outdoor deck space and great sitting areas inside. Cozy furnishings and so many special touches. We will be back.

We are all so fortunate this is property is a rentable vacation home to be shared with family, thank you Janet for making it a possibility ! This property was amazing and we were blessed with a heat wave during our stay! We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary and our sons first birthday. Our expectations were met 110% and if I could give this experience 15/15 I would, 10 point scale doesn't do it justice. If you are unsure, stop thinking and book, it will not disappoint. Wonderful time in the cottage and a great view of Vesuvius Bay. Got to witness a group of sea lions thermoregulating themselves all day long as they slept and turned in circles near the shore. The double-sided fireplace was great for heating (in addition to the heat pump) and it warmed one of the bedrooms nicely and we could go to bed watching the embers burn out slowly. The kitchen was amazingly stocked and everything needed for cooking was found easily. It was a wonderful week and the hikes in the neighbourhood were quite plentiful.

Magical Tantramar

Like stepping back into a simpler time full of character. I immediately felt right at home. Room for my dog to play on the property and at the beach. If I wanted to sit and watch the sunset we could still play ball because I closed the gate to the beach. Friends visited and we sat in every seating arrangement. There are many! Some worked for 1 friend (bistro table) and some worked for 2 friends - propane fire table and comfie chairs. 4 sunsets were spectacular! Thank you for allowing me to share this experience with my dog.

What a beautiful place to relax and get away from the hustle bustle of daily life. Although we live just an short ferry ride away, this magical place felt like a whole different world. Deck was fabulous even on those cool drizzly days and open deck was great for watching sunsets. Beach was quiet we enjoyed listening to the birds and watching the heron and seals make their daily appearances. Kitchen was well stocked and beds were comfortable. All in all a delightful stay. Hope to be back again next year.
