Bamboo Grove: Spectacular Ocean View Custom West Coast Timberframe Home..

We had a wonderful time on SaltSpring and Bamboo Grove heightened the experience. The setting is perfect with access to trails and the shore nearby. The home itself is very thoughtfully designed and maintained. We look forward to future visits.

Our family (4 adults and 2 young children) enjoyed our visit to Bamboo Grove. Eliot was a gracious and welcoming host, and the house and its surroundings are spectacular. We spent hours in the trails behind the house in the mornings, explored the Island in the afternoon, and returned to the house to watch the beautiful sunset in the evenings. We can’t wait to return!

We spent a week here with our family (2 adults, 8 y/o, 5 y/o) and we were so happy that we decided to book it. We were there for a wedding, so were driving to Ganges quite often to meet up with family, but it wasn't too bad, maybe 15 min each way. The four of us had more than enough room to spread out, we were not for want of anything. It's a stunning property, extremely peaceful, could easily spend another week there just resting :) Elliot was very kind and communicative and was happy to assist with any questions we had.

We stayed for 1 month. Beds were pretty comfortable but a few pillows could be upgraded. Rental is very clean. Even with them accepting dogs, there are no weird smells. Even the towels smelled like fresh laundry. And when I stayed I was pregnant, so I had the most sensitive nose. I was initially worried about bugs because it’s surrounded by nature, but the patio doors and windows have screens so you can leave the doors open to catch the breeze without letting mosquitoes in. Doors and windows provide cross breeze on hot days. Views are better in person than the photos. One thing I’d change is the lack of shades on some of the bathroom windows. The forest behind the house is pretty private and to bathe/shower with a view of the trees is relaxing, but, I’d feel more comfortable with shades in the bathroom. The kitchen is stocked with pretty much everything you need including a blender. The cooking utensils could use an upgrade and some organization though. Location is perfect if you’re looking for peace and quiet. Trails behind the house are a huge plus. The trail starting behind the house that connects to the trail system is a bit steep for like 50 meters but it does level off at the top. I did it 5 months pregnant. Trails are marked and maintained well. The owner has a little cottage down the driveway but we never felt he was invasive or being nosy. Still felt really private and he’s a really nice guy. We can’t wait to return!

My husband and I had a short but amazing stay at Bamboo Grove (cut short when our daughter at home got very ill with Covid). The house is beautifully designed for relaxation, has everything one might need, is spotless and has the most amazing view. Eliot is extremely friendly and was helpful with everything ...the house, what to do on the island, where to hike... There are acres of beautiful hiking/running/biking trails right behind the house. The location is out of the way and peaceful, yet close to everything one might want to see or do on the island. We really wished we could have stayed longer and will without a doubt book another stay. Thank you so much for everything Eliot!

Beautiful property, one of a kind and world class

Fantastic location and property. We had a relaxing visit! Only tips for others would be to know that there is no hot tub, but rather a large Japanese bathtub. Also, only one shower on the property. Hiking nearby is amazing with Arbutus Tree groves. View is also very nice and you feel like you're in the middle of the woods. One last note would be that many of the windows have no curtains.

This home is simply AMAZING! The views from the porch were stunning. The home was beautiful & spacious. Everything you needed was there and more. The pictures really don't do it justice. Plus the island was a great destination with so much to do. And the cool weather was so appreciated - - - we came from Dallas, Tx, You will not be disappointed if you rent this home.

This home has thoughtful quality craftmanship throughout as it blends seamlessly with nature. From the electromagnetic off switch in the master bedroom, to the master bath and shower surrounded by windows and stunning forest views. My experience staying at this unique getaway will be treasured for many years. Eliot is the perfect host and Salt Spring Island a restorative getaway. I look forward to staying again in the future!!

Bamboo Grove is a beautiful place. It is a hike up the steep hill but well worth it. We enjoyed hiking through the trails on the property. The place was very comfortable. We enjoyed some cozy evenings by the fire. The view is breathtaking. We greatly appreciated our host being so accommodating and helpful. We look forward to the next time. We would recommend this wonderful get away.

Bamboo Grove sits on a steep hill near the north end of Salt Spring Island. It is a very well-appointed, clean, spacious, and quiet hideaway. The house itself is lovely, with high ceilings, larger view windows, and nice woodwork. There are 15 km of hiking trails right behind the house, and the views from the hill toward Vancouver Island are wonderful. The kitchen is full appointed, so once you do your grocery shopping, you can hunker in for a retreat. The bathroom off of the primary suite has large windows facing uphill into the woods, so that takes some getting used to. And you will need an AWD to safely make it up the steep road, especially in bad weather. But Eliot, the owner, is helpful and communicative without being intrusive, and the location and property are lovely. It's about a 20-30 minute drive into town, but if you want to feel like you're getting away from it all - while still having all the comforts of home - this is your place. An idyllic island getaway.

We had a wonderful week at Bamboo Grove. The views are gorgeous from every room, and there are a number of great hikes accessible from the backyard. We’d love to stay again!

Amazing place! Eliot’s house is gorgeous with fantastic views, quiet, spacious and very clean.. Lots of hiking opportunities around the property. Spent an amazing week relaxing, enjoying the peace and beauty of our surroundings. Highly recommend, we look forward to coming back again!!

Perfect for a family gathering, lots of space to gather together or to have privacy. After out exploring Saltspring during the day we enjoyed returning to share a meal in the evenings. The sunsets are spectacular!

Bamboo Grove exceeded all of my expectations for a local getaway. The breathtaking vistas and sunset, beautifully appointed home, and attention to detail by Eliot to create a home away from home was truly impressive. It is rare to find a location that can appease all ages including our dog and with such elegance and class. I highly recommend it if you are looking for natural beauty inside and literally right outside the home with spectacular vistas in the front of the house and forest in the back.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Bamboo Grove with our two adult children. The home is beautifully designed, has a wonderful flow and is well appointed with everything we needed for our vacation. We enjoyed spectacular sunsets every night, and also enjoyed the coolness and peacefulness of the shaded patio. Having access to kilometres of trails right from the back door was amazing. Eliot was a very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful host. .

Eliot's home is a beautiful yet very functional sanctuary. Whether you want to hike the backyard trails, explore the island, or stay in and relax Bamboo Grove is the perfect place to stay. Our family had an unforgettable time here, and we can't wait to return!

A very lovely home that’s perfectly equipped and spotless. The views are exceptional! Just bring your clothes and some groceries and drop yourself in the hammock for ultimate relaxation. You won’t want to leave and will fall in love with Salt Spring. Close enough to the village, but far enough away that you’ll hear nothing but the sounds of nature. Can’t say enough good things about how special Bamboo Grove is!

A wonderful home with spectacular view of the ocean! Comfortably supports 6 people in 3 huge comfortable bedrooms with separate bathrooms. Spectacular kitchen with everything provided, and ability to sit at a dining table that overlooks the ocean, or more shaded table in the back of house, looking toward forrest. Wonderful! Eliot was most helpful and kind!

Its not easy to find wonderful places to vacation that are dog friendly so we felt very fortunate when we happened upon Bamboo Grove! What a magical house and location. Phenomenal views from all rooms in the house and great hiking right from the back door. Eliot is the perfect host, even with our crazy puppy! We were very lucky to be there for the release of a young eagle who spent the summer in rehabilitation after Eliot rescued the eaglet in the spring! Bamboo Grove is a perfect place to relax, hike, and explore Salt Spring Island. We are looking forward to going back soon!

Amazing kitchen, fantastic sunsets. Beat expectations

Awesome place. The views are sublime. The property is well located. The space in the house is excellent.

Serene and secluded, close to the Vesuvius ferry. The home is spacious, bright and beautiful with a stunning view from each room. Bedding was great with beds on the firm side but we all sleep very well. Hikes out the back door and the hosts were wonderful. Highly recommended.

Spectacular view and setting on the north end of Salt Spring Island. The craftsmanship of the house and the design were stunning. Fully equipped kitchen - even spices, oil, vinegar etc. All the appliances you would need. Nice romantic get away for the two of us but also would be perfect for a family or a few couples. Great mountain biking out the back door. Eliot the owner, was very attentive. We were on Salt Spring for a major storm in December ( storm of the century) and fortunately the house even has a backup generator so we had all the comforts when the rest of the island was without power. There is a big beautiful fireplace, so pick up some firewood at the grocery store if you are staying in the winter and would like a fire. Highly recommend this spot. We look forward to returning!

Japanese aesthetic home overlooking a WSW view of nearby Vancouver Island. Japanese soaking tub is wonderful; somehow it is totally different than a bath. Beautiful cabinetry and a general sense of a human being having taken an active interest in its creation and not only its design. Immediate access to a beautiful trail system through gorgeous forest areas; literally out the back door. There are multiple mindful little things throughout the home. Lighting is a bit confusing in terms of what controls what and a nice reading lamp here or there would have been nice. Small potatoes.

Every aspect of this holiday was beyond our expectation and it is clear that the owner, Eliot, has given great thought as to how best make his guests comfortable and welcome. Eliot has a lightness of touch that struck a perfect chord with us. He is a fabulous host who makes himself very available when needed and is a pleasure to talk to on any subject. His depth of local knowledge really helped us to enjoy aspects of the island we may not have discovered on our own. The house is generously proportioned, high end without feeling uptight and equipped for your every need. It is situated on a tremendous plot with ever-changing ocean views. We are a family of four and also had our two dogs with us but the house was so spacious that we could easily find our own places to relax or enjoy time together. From the moment we arrived, we all felt like we had made a true escape from our regular lives. Salt Spring itself has much to offer and everything felt within easy reach from the house. The Saturday market for example, was a major draw for us. However, the greatest pleasure for us was just to sit on the deck in the evening, surrounded by arbutus trees, listening to nature and wondering how different this night's sunset would look from that of the night before. The views really are truly spectacular. The property is very pet friendly and it is fair to say that the dogs looked as disappointed to be leaving this magical place as we were! We recommend Bamboo Grove without any hesitation and have already talked about returning.

We have stayed on Salt Spring Island several times and this is by far the nicest home we have stayed in! The home is beautiful, private, close to many trails, and has the best views we have ever seen on the island! The host was wonderful and everything was just perfect for our stay. Highly recommend this home for your vacation!

We had a wonderful long weekend at Bamboo Grove - what a slice of heaven. I’m not sure pictures can do this house or the view justice, it is stunning. Eliot was very helpful and responded to our questions quickly while also respecting our privacy. Enjoyed sitting on the decks, hiking Channel Ridge and using the soaker tub. Highly recommend the property to anyone!

We stayed at Bamboo Grove with our close friends and young children. The house was absolutely beautiful, well-equipped and had such amazing views. We were able to wander out the back door straight in to wonderful hiking trails and it was only a short drive to anywhere on the island. Eliot was a great host and answered all of our questions right away - including help finding what we needed and ensuring that we had everything we needed. We would love to come again soon!
