Ratings and reviews
The kitchen:
_ The oven appears to be from the late 1950s and the top broiler didn’t work.
_ The vent didn’t work, which meant any steam/smoke from cooking hung in the air.
_ Cooktop worked but was also old and on its last legs; the brick counter top was old, dirty and hard to clean.
_ Not enough silverware for a family of four to eat more than one meal without washing by hand/running dishwasher.
_ Kitchen drawers were dirty; there were crumbs inside.
_ No bowls with lids; we had to use plates to cover bowls containing food.
_ Hot pads, etc., were old and dirty.
_ The exteriors of the kitchen cabinets were dirty, particularly the baseboard and front of the cabinet to left of refrigerator.
_ In the master bedroom, the mattress cover was dirty and bloodstained. We washed it, of course, but not an appealing thing to be sleeping on even after.
_ In the master bath, which is the size of a closet, paint is peeling from the ceiling and the shower head is so low you had to crouch down low just to wash your face and hair.
_ There was trash scattered right outside the kitchen window. We picked most of it up.
_ The sliding glass door appears to be original to the house and was very difficult to open and close.
_ Throughout the house, the doors and walls and baseboards were layered with dirt _ especially the baseboards in shared bath.
_ The front door is starting to come apart at the bottom.
_ The linens we rented through Jekyll Realty were dingy and old, like they'd hadn't been washed with bleach in a long time, if ever.
