We stayed a few nights with our kids, looking to have walking access to the Encinitas beaches. The walks to Moonlight Beach and Stonesteps were peaceful and not too far for our lower elementary aged kids. They loved the toys and games in the converted garage at the house, the outdoor spaces are expansive and comfortably furnished, and we all slept very comfortably in the two bedrooms. Communication with the house manager was excellent and one or two minor issues (including me forgetting an item at the house!) were handled promptly and with great kindness. The house does show its age in some respects, but it was a great base for our beach visits and I would happily stay again!

This place was so quirky and fun. All kinds of toys for adults and kids. Ping pong table and beach toys got used a lot. The kitchen was one of the most well stocked of any. Everything we needed. Plenty of towels for shower and beach. The outdoor shower was a hit! Would rent again in the future.

Loved the location of this little house. Easy beach access and walkable to everything in Encinitas. The house itself is a bit worn - furniture and carpet could use an update, doors are creaky and two panel, back sun porch area is sloped. Outside patios are amazing and practical - easy to use!

The cottage was adorable! Very cozy with private outdoor garden spaces to relax in. The beaches were pristine and within a 10 minute walk. The San Diego Botanical Gardens was very close. The neighborhood was charming, as well. 🌺🌷🌻

Outdoor paradise, comfy beds, central heat-A/C. Walkable to beach, restaurants, etc. quiet, safe neighborhood. Good air flow-through, with screened doors abounding. Well equipped in every way. Personal touch and charm in decorative theme “The Hemingway House.” Like dropping into literary history. Comfortable new living room furniture and updated dining room table. Lovely management. I’ll be back.

We loved the neighborhood. We enjoyed all the Different gardens. The kids loved the outdoor Bathroom. The bed in the one small bedroom Was smaller than we expected. The kitchen was Well equipped. We were able to Eat meals outside in the gardens. Thanks the great Experience. We would definitely stay there again.

The outdoor aera was great however the pictures showed real grass and the photos were off. 3 brdrooms 2 baths but mislead that 1 was outside. The house was not clesn as it should of been my daugbter in law spent tome cleaning and vacuming while we there. We were all disapointed especially for the price.

Great property. Very comfortable house in a quiet neighborhood. Excellent location relative to the beach and downtown Encinitas restaurants/bars. Property was well maintained and the host was most accomodating and supportive. Greatly enjoyed our vacation and are already planning on a return trip!

Location is good. There’s no ac and no ventilation in the kitchen, not even a window that opens. The house is hot and doesn’t cool down at night. Most dishes and cups are plastic. Beds, pillows and sheets are cheap, old and not comfortable. Many fans and lights are not working. Rooms are small and cramped with decorative(?) stuff. I would not recommend anyone stay here. If I had the time and energy I’d pursue a refund.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hemingway House. The location is fantastic, in easy walking distance to Moonlight Beach and "downtown" Encinitas. The house itself is cozy, comfortable, and lovingly appointed with Hemingway memorabilia. The garden and outdoor spaces are beautiful. It was very easy to return to after full days of exploring and enjoying family and friends.

We had a great time staying at the Hemingway House over the holidays. The location was perfect. We walked to the beach every morning because you are right in between Moonlight Beach and Stone Steps Beach and about a mile walk to Leucadia beach. It was a short 1/2 mile walk into downtown Encinitas and a 1/2 mile or so to go to Leucadia, The house is an original beach cottage and it is quite cozy. We had 5 adults staying in the house and the living room was large enough where we could all gather. The rest of the house was on the smaller size but we were all able to have our own space when we needed it. We were fortunate to have good weather and were enjoying the outdoors or having an adventure everyday. The outside space was amazing. There were two little patios off the side of the house. There were also two separate outdoor spaces. The one closest to the house had a gorgeous lemon tree, a couch and a dining table. The one closest to the sidewalk had chairs and a table. It was lovely to have our morning coffee while looking at the palm trees. The yard is fenced so the dogs could safely hang out with us. The garage had a couch and ping pong table which the kids used alot. The neighborhood was super quiet and walkable with super nice folks living nearby. We truly enjoyed our time at the Hemingway House.

Quirky little property! One bedroom is a very small sunroom with a twin bed, not a full as listed, but we had a great trip! Definitely gets hot as there is no AC but opening doors and windows before bed helps and there are several little fans to use as well.

It could use AC to make sleeping more comfortable on hot nights but everything else about the place is awesome. Plenty of things like chairs and body boards to make beach days great. And the ping pong table in the garage was good way to pass the time in the evenings. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Our family of 6 plus a chihuahua stayed here for 5 nights. It was the perfect location to walk to Moonlight and Stone Steps beaches, and it was SO well stocked with everything we needed- beach cart, beach chairs, extra towels, sand toys, boogie boards, dishes, blankets, fans, hairdryer...we were not in want of anything! The outdoor space was perfect, the neighborhood was quiet, the outdoor bathroom and washer/dryer was great to use, and I loved having a sprayer outside to wash the sand off our feet. The photos online make some of the outdoor spaces look bigger than they actually are, but once you are there, you don't care! The house is older and has it's funny quirks, but for the price, you can't beat this property. We will stay here again. Our beach trip was perfect because of this home. We will never forget it.

We had a lovely stay. The house is ideally located near the beach and downtown Encinitas. We love to walk and know the area so we walked a lot. The house is small and decorated thematically to reflect Earnest Hemingway’s era. There is a lot of furniture and decorative items… We were visited by our kids and grandkids often so had to watch for things to not get bumped! The grounds are amazing and beautiful. We enjoyed the different sitting areas and the lemon tree! Overall… we truly enjoyed our month long stay… we may be back!

A gorgeous gem of a house with charm, character and easy access to Stonesteps and Moonlight Beach. Just a few quick blocks from shops…coffee, ice cream, pizza, etc. The outside tub/shower is a great feature as is the garage with ping pong table. The outdoor sofa/seating is the ultimate chill space. It was perfect for my family of three (including teenage boy). Hope to return.

We had a wonderful (too short) stay at what our kids have now dubbed “the pineapple house”! We loved this adorable charming cottage. It was so cozy and had everything we needed for our family of 5. The kids had such a blast playing in the yard and garage. Walking distance to moonlight beach that has a great playground for kids. Walking distance to our favorite coffee shop, Lofty Coffee. And a new favorite, Cali Cream ice cream. We will definitely be returning as often as possible!

We had a fantastic time staying at the Hemmingway House in Encinitas for a reunion with our friends. We had one tween and two teens with us, and they LOVED the garage with the couch and ping pong table. The beach was easily accessible, and all of the outdoor spaces at the house were relaxing and peaceful. The house had all of the amenities we needed, including beach towels, boogie boards and sand buckets. The driveway parking fit both of our cars, and the house was clean and comfortable. There were a few quirks here and there with the house as it is a bit older, but nothing that at all diminished our experience. We will definitely stay here again!
