Great apartment for a visit to Edinburgh

Lovely apartment, ideally located in the city centre. Warm and cosy for a December stay, well appointed and with a few basic provisions for arrival.

The cleanliness of the apartment was spotless, the location is absolutely amazing. The persons from the office were very nice and helpful. Would definitely choose this place again.

The bathtub glass doesn't fully cover so every time we took showers the floor got soaked. The heating in the bedroom was not working very well.

Cosy flat super location

Location is excellent, 10 minutes walk from Waverley rail station, local attractions, city centre. Easy access to property, only a door code. Quiet neigbourhood, plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. Flat is very clean.

we did breakfast on our own. It was a large studio appartment. well appointed. It has its own washer/dryer machine. Kitchen had pots and pans. a dishwasher and microwave.

Not enough instructions about how to use the washer/dryer unit. Theey are not that common in the US. Only met the maintanence man when he came to work on the washer/dryer unit. Talked to people about entry but never met a person.

Great location, only 5 minutes from Princes Street and 10 minutes from the Royal Mile. Good facilities in a good sized 1 bedroom apartment. Easy instructions on how to enter the property and for a reasonable extra charge, secure parking only 2 minutes away.

Would stay again at a Destiny location but I would do a bit more research on location

Have stayed at a Destiny location in Edinburgh a couple years ago and loved it. First was Hanover, this time was New Town. This location was off an alley but still close to most everything. The rooms are nice sized, there is full kitchen and laundry which is awesome 🤩

Other than the homeless man sleeping at the stoop and talking and being noisy in the middle of the night, we tried to look past that. It was overall a good place to stay.

There was a homeless person sleeping at our door entrance each day we were there-we felt unsafe The entrance is down a dirty alley way with many filthy dumpster There needs to be directions on how to use the shower There was a fire drill at 8am on Monday due to a person staying there set it off -the staff did not know how to deal with this- it took the fire department 33 minutes to shut the shrilling alarm-my ears rang for a day We stood outside in cool temps for 28 minutes-when they could let us back in all we got was a very soft spoken sorry at the entrance door. I would have thought at least they could buy us a coffee from a local place or even send us a text with an apology note

Lovely apartment for a short stay… not as homely as you might want for a longer stay but a good base.

It was very clean and comfortable.. with pretty much everything you need for a short stay. The small back road it was on was not particularly nice.. and, as many have said, there is a homeless man lying in the next door way which is very off putting. Made my adult children anxious about coming home late alone. He was no trouble.. didn’t engage with us or anything. And of course there is nothing the owners can do. The overall area though was perfect and lovely. Lots of cafes, shops restaurants etc and on walking distance to most things in central Edinburgh.

Good location for sightseeing

We were able to access our apartment a little early which was good as they could give us directions as it is tricky to find. It was lovely and modern, there were some stairs to navigate then a very small lift to the second floor. Our apartment was very quiet. The location was good, lots of restaurants nearby and we could walk to the main tourist attractions.

When we first entered the toilet contained a massive wad of hair and other rubbish that was easily flushed away. Presumably left by the cleaner after cleaning the bathroom. As noted by others, the dryer is tricky. Despite it being left overnight it still wouldn’t open, luckily Google helped out. The plug in the bath kept popping open, as often as every few seconds. Did not make for a relaxing bath. We booked a room with an extra large double bed; everywhere else we’ve booked this means a King size, this one was a Queen only.

A well equipped apartment in a fantastic location.

The apartment was clean, spacious and well-equipped. It was located in a very walkable, lovely area of the New Town, close to stores and restaurants.

1. The washer/dryer combination door stuck closed. There were no instructions of any type in the apartment to assist with either the correct operation of the appliance or to fix the door, (a maintenance person happened to be in the building and showed us the “release”). 2. Hooks for coats in the front hall would be helpful.

Great option for a long term stay & you have NO car.

Spacious, renovated, modern with an excellent bathroom.

Horrible mattress…similar to a thin, springy sofa sleeper mattress and very thin pillows. Surprising since the apartment is so nice & modern. No a/c, but they brought us a fan. If you have a car & park in the nearby St. James Quarter Car Park, be sure to take the YELLOW lift to exit. This is the closest to the apartment. Google maps may take you out the wrong area. Entrance to the apartment is in an alley and a Homeless man was sleeping next to the door.

Convenient location, nice apartment, clean

The location was close to trams/buses/2 deck city tour buses. We were able to walk from the apartment to Arthurs seat and all over. The apartment was very nice, roomy, separate bathrooms . Nice kitchen.

Had a lot of trouble getting info about our unit number. The offices were closed over the weekend, and weren't actually in this building. Prior emails (from US)but these did not go to my email account. Got a message to check spam, but no help. We could get into front door with last four of my phone number but didn't know our unit number. This was a very expensive place, our highest on our month long trip and started to get worried we couldn't get in. After several minutes an email arrived in junk mail folder. Since they wont send this info very far ahead of time its nerve wracking to think you wont be able to get in.

Nice apartment, but not worth the cost

Comfortable place to stay and explore Edinburgh, but not good value for the cost (over 1600 pounds for 3 nights). Limited/small cooking pots and pans.

The hallway fire alarm was set off by opening the door to the dryer closet, resulting in an evacuation of the building and fire department response at 10 pm. Access to the apartment is via a somewhat seedy street with homeless people set up next to the access door. All in all, it was a nice apartment, but not the value expected for over 1600 pounds for 3 night stay. Beds should be replaced (loud springs and not completely comfortable).

Both of the restaurants listed in the binder that were supposed to offer discounts were out of business. The dryer did not dry the clothes, even after repeatedly running it and waiting over an hour in between to open the door. We started 2 regular loads two days before leaving and still had to pack wet clothes.

Very confusing signage and guidance.

During the early hours of the morning, guests from another room next to ours arrived. They made noise and forced our door open. The poor signage and guidance led guests to go to the wrong floor and apartment. There was no good signage for the elevators, everything was very confusing.

Unsafe and inconvenient apartment

Location was nowhere close to metro or bus stations or bus stops. Roads leading to apartment is super dark and creepy at night as it was a back alley. Roads outside were all brick tilings which made it super difficult and impossible to push and pull luggages. There are no lifts when you enter the apartment. There are a flight of steps downwards before another flight of steps upwards before one can reach the lift. Totally unnecessary and a burden, especially if one have luggages and eldery. The apartment is also unsafe as there are homeless men sleeping just outside and beside the entrance of the apartment. There are also very loud noises, quarrels and commotions heard in the middle of the night because the apartment is only located on the second level. Impossible to have a good night's sleep. Highly unrecommended for light sleepers. Poor condition of the apartment with limited amenities. Stay at your own risk!
