About this villa rental

Provencal house with stunning views of a green valley, the village of Gaujac and Gaujac Oppidum. The house has a beautiful private swimming pool to overflow and closed with a perimeter alarm. quiet and secluded. The house is located in the village of Connaux about 7 km from Bagnols sur Cèze, 20 km from Uzès, Pont du Gard, Castilllon Gard, Collias, 30 km from Avignon and its festival in July and 40 km Nimes. In the village you will find several shops as bakery, butcher, supermarket, greengrocer, chemist, newsagent etc. A large supermarket Carrefour is located in Bagnols sur Cèze.
Interior:
The house has a warm interior:
Ground floor: living room with lounge and dining room, fully equipped kitchen (Nespresso coffee machine) with dining area. Patio doors from the kitchen and the living room have direct access to the terrace. WC. Laundry room with washer and dryer and extra freezer.
First floor: four bedrooms, three bedrooms with 2-pers (twin 140X190m and a bed to 160x200) and fourth (with 2 beds 80 x 200), two bathrooms, one with bath and one with shower, WC separated.
Exterior:
The house is located on a hill in a quiet residential area of the village, on a large plot of over 1000m2 with a beautiful view of the valley. Next to the house is a terrace (40m2) with pergolat, garden furniture and gas BBQ and next to the swimming pool 15m2 terrace with sun loungers, parasol. The swimming pool (max depth 1.70 m) is a heated pool and pool with a submerged beach. The house is located in a very quiet and intimate environment. There is a closed parking for 4 cars at the back of the house.

We had an excellent fortnight in this beautiful house. The terrace and pool were particularly welcome as we were there during the 2022 heatwave. The house is well placed for visits to Provence, the Ardeche and Montpellier, as well as Uzes and Nimes. Note that the house does have fans in the bedrooms (despite what an earlier review says). Mosquitoes were a bit of a nuisance but kept reasonably at bay with a coil on the terrace and plug ins at night. Overall I would strongly recommend this property.

Jessie and her husband were fantastic hosts, waited for 3 hours for us to arrive due to delayed flight and super quick to respond when we needed a doctor at the weekend. The house is a good size and the pin ball machine and 80’s loaded original jukebox are a great addition. Well equipped house with plenty of shade if needed in the garden should the sun deck by the pool be a bit too much!! The neighbours are close and unfortunately on two nights (of 14) decided to play loud music until the early hours but we may well have been unlucky and it was a Saturday night on both occasions. I would definitely recommend this property, can easily sleep 8.

Villa is secure behind electric gate, plenty of parking. Lovely shaded terrace. Pool is superb. Good quality garden furniture & BBQ. BUT: The tiger mosquitos are the worst we have ever encountered. You really cannot use the garden table in the evening. We have never had so many bites, despite spaying ourselves day and night. The only mosquito screen is on the main room bathroom. I would recommend that the owner perhaps invests in some screens on the windows and doors because it really detracted from the holiday. There are also no fans anywhere in the villa, I would have expected there to be some, they are not expensive and paying this amount for the villa I would hope that some could be invested back into improving these aspects.

Really enjoyable stay in this lovely property. 20 min walk to Connaux and Gaujac. Due to its hillside position it has a very private terrace and pool despite being close to other properties. It accommodated to families of 4 comfortably. Worth taking mosquitos spray as there seemed to be lots around biting during our stay. Lots of things to do in the surrounding area to keep the kids busy when we dragged them away from the pool

We really enjoyed our family time in Connaux. The region is absolutely beautiful and the property had plenty of space for us, our parents and our two children aged 9 and 11. Everything we needed was there, the pool was beautiful and was even heated in early May. Jessie was helpful and her communication was great.

I've just spent two weeks in this lovely house in Connaux, together with my family. We were six of us and there was plenty of space. The house is really well equipped, with everything we needed to cook, including a large gas bbq outside. We spent most of our time in the pool and on the terrace, as it was mid July and very hot and the long table on the terrace is in shade. There are super views from the terrace of the rolling hills and the nearby village of Gaujac. There are endless places to visit nearby, from ancient archaeological sites and mountain top castle ruins to Roman towns with excellent markets (especially in Uzes on a Saturday morning). We went kayaking in the Ardeche, which was about an hour's drive away, and went wine tasting near Bagnol. There are still so many places to explore, but we feel we had a good mix of sightseeing and relaxing by the pool. I can't think of anything negative at all to say about this property. Everyone in the family agreed that it was one of the best holidays we've had and we'd love to return in the future.

The accommodation was excellent and very spacious as there were only two of us! The garden and pool were delightful. The house was very well equipped and we anted for nothing. We had a problem with the TV but Agnes, the housekeeper, dealt with it efficiently and quickly. The village has everything you need including 2 very good bakers with an excellent selection of bread and pastries. However we were expecting to be able to walk to collect our bread every morning but, owing to the steady climb back to the house, it would have taken a lot longer than 20 minutes. We looked for a short cut but did not find one so we used the car. We spent most afternoons by the pool and were blessed with fine weather. We did have a bit of noise from the neighbours, one side had a small baby who seemed to cry rather a lot and on the other side there was a lot of car movement. However this did not spoil our overall enjoyment of our holiday although we expected neighbours to be a bit further from our house. We have visited this region many times and Connaux did not disappoint. We found several very good places to eat where the people were always friendly. However a knowledge of French is needed as many places did not speak much English. This enhanced our holiday as we enjoy using the local language. We would recommend this property to others and it is perfect for groups especially those with children as the pool is wonderful.

We had a wonderful holiday here in Provence! The owner was very understanding of our delayed arrival due to a car breakdown, thank you Jessie and Mr and Mrs Morrish for meeting us so late in the evening. The house was perfect, with stunning views across the countryside and was fully equipped with everything we needed and more. The beds were all comfortable and all rooms had plenty of storage. My grown up children enjoyed the super pool, as did we, it was much needed as we arrived during a heatwave. Thank you Agnes for looking after the pool, it was lovely to meet you. We spent many hours by the pool in the pretty garden and most evenings outside on the veranda. My husband enjoyed cooking on the barbecue. Connaux is a lovely village and had everything we needed. We walked to the bakery every morning to buy croissants for breakfast and anything else we might need. There is a green grocers, butchers, pharmacy, little supermarket, hairdressers in the village as well as a few restaurants. There is a big supermarket 10 minutes drive away in Bagnols -sur-cèze for bulky supplies.The village of Gaujac is visible across the valley from the house and is a short walk away, La Maison restaurant served a fabulous meal for our Anniversary. Everyone was really friendly and although we could only speak very basic French and most locals only speak a little English, everyone was very patient and we had lots of laughs making each other understood. As expected in the area, there are lots of vineyards where you can call in and taste their wines. We visited Vignerons de Gaujac (a short walk from the house), Vignobles Larguier in Tresques and Chateau Signac, both a short drive away. The villa is ideally situated for trips to the local tourist attractions. Avignon, Pont Du Gard, Nimes, Orange, Chateauneuf du Pape are all within a short driving distance and worth a visit. Altogether a fabulous holiday, perfect villa, beautiful area!! We didn't want to leave and will certainly be back! Thank you Jessie!

Beautiful home and garden in Provence. Had nearly everything you could want. I say nearly as no air-conditioning so would have welcomed fans in the bedroom! Central for days out. We visited Pont du Gard, Nîmes, Orange and canoed down La Ceze. We would definitely recommend

We could not be more pleased with this rental house. It is very well laid out for families. It is well decorated and has every mod con. My children loved exploring the garden and we were comforted knowing the drive way gate and pool gates and pool alarm would keep them safe. The pool is stunning and such a nice way to cool off on a hot summer day. The views from the house over the town of Gaujac are breath taking. The area provide plenty to do. Gaujac is charming and boosts an amazing restaurant La Maison and two wineries. Connaux also twenty minute stroll has a bakeries butchers and a fab fruit veg shop. Uzes is a twenty minute drive and has a wonderful market on Weds and Sat. All in all we adored this trip and are smitten with the area. We hope to return!
