Great base to visit the beautiful town and villages of Provence

Faucon is a nice village typical of the region, with a few restaurants and a ruined castle in a beautiful location. There is a "bakery" that's barely worth the name (it functions more as a restaurant). For other basic needs you must go to a neighboring town or village. Most everything you need will be in Vaison, about 10 minutes away by car, and there is a wonderful bakery in Puymeras, just five minutes away. There are several great bathing spots in the local rivers, and some good hikes ranging from after-dinner to strenuous. The house itself is in good repair and clean, though not modern (and without being really characterful either). It has no A/C and may get very hot. It is on the side of the village by the main road, just high enough not to be really noisy. The pictures were probably not taken in high summer. The garden is well-kept but not extraordinary and may not look that pretty. There is a farmyard on one side (again, a bit lower than the house, but detracting a bit from the overall feel of the place). We were four, but I suspect the house could sleep 7 or 8, maybe even 10, if you don't mind a squeeze. We never figured out how to work the washing machine. The kitchen was reasonably equipped but not as well as some places. The patio is good, and there is a small but useful lawn if you have kids. Parking is easy. Overall a good place, just try not to visit in a heatwave.

We had a very pleasant stay in Faucon. Very nice house with everything you need. Good weather. Supermarkets and boulangerie nearby. Nice places to visit and good swimming in the rivers for example down by the bridge of Vaison de la Romaine. Will keep it in mind for the future.

We liked the village and views of the hills and Mont Ventoux. Also, it was centrally placed for our trips out and visits. It was one of the nicest gites we have stayed in and it was well equipped. The downstairs bathroom was a bit drainy and could be improved with a shower cabinet. We liked the garden and terrace for sitting out. Fani was efficient and helpful.

We found the house a beautiful, charming and very comfortable place to stay in. Faucon remains a true provencal village, undamaged by 'modern' world, though it is sad that the village church is mostly closed and masses very rare. Nathalie was very friendly and helpful. The wines made by the Joly family are delicious.

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay in this large house in Faucon. The village is small and peaceful with a beautiful view of Mt Ventoux and surrounding vineyards. Our children loved the swingset in the yard and we all made good use of the garden and patio. The house is enormous with plenty of room for at least 6 people. The open kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were comfortable and it was very quiet at night. The house is well situated for visiting Vaison la Romaine as well as other towns in the area. Nathalie was kind and welcoming. She was concerned about noise from the construction across the street but we did not find it bothersome. We would return to stay in this house if we are in the area again. Thank you!

Great village location

Great village location

We had a lovely stay in this comfortable house, which is very conveniently situated on the edge of Faucon. We enjoyed being able to walk to the excellent boulangerie and to the nearby restaurants, where we had some delicious meals. One of us also enjoyed pleasant walks on the quiet little roads and tracks in the surrounding countryside. Nathalie provided a warm welcome and looked after us very well. We loved renewing our acquaintance with the surrounding towns and villages (especially Vaison and Nyons) and revisiting favourite vineyards and co-ops, as well as some excursions to places we hadn't visited before (such as Buis-les-Baronnies). The onion tart at La Loupiote (on the road out of Vaison towards Carpentras) remains the best we've ever had! We left Faucon laden with lovely wines and Nyons olives. The weather was beautiful most of the time, though we did have one or two exciting thunderstorms. It's the first time we have stayed in a house without a fireplace and we would certainly have missed that if we had had more rainy or chilly days - a fire is cheerful even if not strictly needed for warmth! We had been slightly concerned beforehand about potential noise from the road. In fact this bothered us very little; the only disturbance came from a village party celebrating the end of the grape harvest and this seemed well justified! We noted some previous comments about noise from agricultural activities - these were no more than you would expect in any village or country location and did not bother us in the slightest. The house is well-equipped. We prefer a cafetiere (press) rather than a coffee machine, so we bought one and donated it for the benefit of future visitors. We also added to the collection of clothes pegs!

The house is very spacious with a great deck looking toward the Faucon village center with Mt Ventoux in the distance. The location is in a bustling agricultural area (vineyards) a short walk from the old village center. It is an authentic Provence experience where the day to day lives of the people who live and work there play out around you. If you want a place where the only sound is bird songs and wind in the trees this may not be for you. If the sounds of rural agricultural life, which includes the ubiquitous small tractors coming and going, is soothing rather than annoying, then this is the right place. The bakery in the village center, a 5 minute walk away, is itself a reason to stay in Faucon. It is renowned in the region and virtually at your doorstep. Ours was a biking holiday with nearly infinite choice of routes in every direction of the compass. This was a perfect place for launching out on daily rides but perhaps the best use of the house is for families and groups that can take advantage of all the beds, kitchen, swing set, washing machine, dishwasher, and living space.

We particularly enjoyed our stay in Faucon using it as a base to explore the region. We appreciated the warm welcome and assistance we received from Nathalie and from people we met in the village. We recommend the restaurant 'Le Laurier' and the boulangerie. We also visited the Tuesday markets in Vaison la Romaine for fresh local produce. We were a group of 6 adults and found the cottage very comfortable in accommodating our needs. Thank you for allowing us to stay. Our only regret was that we were unable to stay longer.

My wife and I had an amazing stay at La Grange at the end of March 2016. Booking was handled well, and Mme. Joly was a pleasure to deal with. The tiny village of Faucon is gorgeous, as is the surrounding countryside. We used the house as the base for visiting the small villages in the area & enjoyed wonderful hikes in the countryside and excellent wine and food. The house is situated just at the base of the village of Faucon. There are tremendous views of the hilltop town as well as Mount Ventoux from the front veranda--perfect to enjoy breakfast in the morning or a glass of wine at night. (At sunset, the town appears to be made of gold). The house itself is roomy and well-appointed--we had everything we needed for our stay. Nathalie (the caretaker of the house) was extremely helpful, providing us with information about the town and even bringing us a food processor that my wife wanted so that she could do some baking. The only reason we didn't give five stars are for relatively minor things: we lacked hot water for a couple of days (which Nathalie managed extremely well, keeping us informed and getting the problem fixed as quickly as possible), and on a couple of mornings when sitting on the verandah, we did get some exhaust and noise from the farm machinery that is used in the surrounding vineyards. That is part of the reality of country life, so not a serious issue at all, but worth noting. We highly recommend La Grange, and we hope to come back!

A beautiful month

La Grange is a comfortable, charming and welcoming house - perfect for a laid-back holiday in the Vaucluse area. It is well-equipped and laid out and its location is great at the foot of lovely Faucon, which turns gold as the sun goes down. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of chilled red watching the light change over the village and mont Ventoux in the distance is a cherished memory, as is cooling down in the nearby rivers. Faucon and nearby Puymeras have some highly recommended places to eat and the Thursday market in Vaison is a weekly treat. Mme Joly and Nathalie made all the difference to our stay - very friendly and helpful. I have recommended La Grange to friends and family and hope to be able to return there soon.

Our stay at La Grange was most enjoyable from the moment we arrived to when we left one week later, ably assisted by Natalie, the housekeeper. The house and terrace face the vineyards and village of Faucon above. The property was as described. The house was comfortable with all household items provided to make for an easy stay. A good file available with information about the house, local interests, food, wine and local walks. We visited the excellent boulangerie in the village every day (check opening times) and occasionally took a coffee on the terrace. It serves breakfast and lunch, simple salads. La Domaine de la Buissiere is next door with the wine available to buy from the restaurant in the building next door. At the time of writing there are two restaurants in the village. The one next door to the house is excellent (the chef had a Michelin starred restaurant previously) with a wonderful chef The terrace with a view of the vines and rolling hills. From 1 October it is open twice per month. It is worth checking when it is open. The other restaurant was closed for the holiday. Further afield (2 km) at Puymeras (can be reached through the fields by either driving or walking) there is a simple bar/restaurant with a terrace overlooking the village. Very popular so worth booking at lunchtime. Very good for coffee, a glass of wine or a light lunch. Within same village there is another restaurant which we did not try (due to being closed for but open the day we left). Vaison La Romaine with its Roman ruins and market on a Tuesday is worth a visit. Nyons has a market on Thursday and is well known for olives. There are many other attractive villages to visit.

Typical french house, complete furnished in a very nice way. Wonderful view at Mont Ventoux from the terrace. As the house is situated in the village - (the street into it is right at the backside) and a winegrower owns the garages in the cellar of the house it is not always as quite as someone may wish for vacations. But the scenery and the nice and warm weather we had during our stay, compensated this small issue totally! Faucon itself is a small village- but has a bakery and a small Restaurant - which we can recommend to visit.

Gut und geschmackvolle Einrichtung. Alles vorhanden was man zum täglichen Leben braucht. Leider ist der schöne Blick auf das Dorf Faucon, den wir von einem früheren Aufenthalt kannten durch 2 Baustellen getrübt. Teilweise wurde ab 17.00h gebaggert, was die Nutzung der wunderschönen Terasse einschränkt

La maison est tout à fait conforme à la description : très grande, très pratique. Nous n'étions que 4 (2 adultes + 2 ados) pour une capacité de 8 donc très à l'aise. Nous n'avons pas utilisé tous les lits, mais la literie de ceux utilisés était très bien. La maison est bien équipée. La proximité des gorges du Toulourenc nous a enchantés tous les jours. Nathalie, qui nous a accueillis est très gentille et disponible. Elle a répondu rapidement à notre demande de remplacement d'un ventilateur qui était cassé à notre arrivée. Deux reproches à cette maison : elle se trouve à l'angle de deux rues très bruyantes (nombreux camions dès tôt le matin, puis traffic toute la journée). La solution aurait été de fermer les fenêtres double vitrage, mais en plein été... ce n'est pas idéal). Et face à la terrasse, une maison en parpaing en construction, qui n'est pas montrée sur les photos. Ca gâche la magnifique vue sur le village de façon inattendue.

Faucon er bestemt et besøg værd med gode restauranter og smukke omgivelser. På terrassen havde vi en god udsigt over vinmarkerne og kunne sidde ugeneret. Der var desværre ingen aircondition og værelserne på 1. sal blev meget varme, så det var svært at sove. Herudover var huset placeret nær en hovedvej, så der var meget trafik og ikke helt så fredfyldt, som forventet.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt und haben uns von Anfang an wohlgefühlt. Das Haus hat Charme und der Ort ist ein bisschen französischer als so viele andere inzwischen touristisch übererschlossene Orte. Das Haus liegt zwischen zwei Straßen, von denen die eine tagsüber gut befahren ist. Nachts ist es aber ruhig.

Schöne Ferienwohnung mit großer Wohnküche. Wobei wir die nicht genutzt haben, weil wir die ganze Zeit auf der schönen Terasse gesessen haben. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Von der Terasse kann man den Mont Ventoux sehen, den wir von Faucon mit dem Rennrad besucht haben. Lediglich die Betten waren für die größeren von uns etwas kurz, aber letztlich haben wir alle gut geschlafen.

Echt een aanrader, een fijn huis met alle voorzieningen. Mooi ruim terras met dito uitzicht over Faucon en wijnveld. De tuin met schommel was een succes bij onze dochter. De tuin en terras volledig omheind. Wij hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad! Ook dank aan Mireille en Nathalie voor de goede zorgen en prettige comminicatie!

Das Haus entspricht exakt der Beschreibung und den Fotos. Es ist sehr sauber, gepflegt und gut ausgestattet. Der Mont Ventoux und der alte Ortskern erscheinen besonders in der Abenddämmerung sehr malerisch. In Faucon gibt es einen ausgezeichneten Bäcker und auch ein gutes Restaurant. Vom Haus aus kann man direkt loswandern und viele Fahrradtouren unternehmen. Ganz besonders möchten wir auch Nathalie danken, die uns so herzlich empfangen hat und unsere Ansprechpartnerin war.
