Charming mansion of the 19th Century

This large mansion is perfect for large family groups. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, relaxing by the pool, walking in the grounds / local woods and taking day trips out to Carcassonne, the Abbaye de Fontfroid and Latours. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean, and the kitchen fine for cooking large family meals. We ate all our meals outside in the back of the house or at the side. The nearby villages of Cazilhac and Palaja are easy to get to and include Patisserie / bread shops, small supermarket and chemist..everything you need for your holiday. Isabelle was most helpful and the perfect host. Thank you!

Très bon séjour dans une demeure agréable à vivre quand on est nombreux. A 5 minutes de Carcassonne, en pleine campagne. Pas de voisins proches donc, on était vraiment tranquille. Chambres spacieuses, salles de bain également grandes, cuisine fonctionnelle. Literie super sauf les 2 petits lits d'une chambres d'enfant. Maison fraîche même quand il fait très chaud. Extérieurs vastes. Piscine grande, très agréable. Maison idéale avec des enfants, avec des amis. Qqs petites remarques qui n'ont pour autant pas gâché notre séjour: pas de rideaux occultants, il fait plein jour à 7h du matin. Une partie de la demeure est habitée. Même les locataires étaient très discrets, ça n'est pas stipulé dans l'annonce.

The large 5-bedroom classic country manor house is situated among the vineyards 10 minutes (6 kilometers) from Carcassone. The house had plenty of room for us to invite guests to visit and stay during our rental. The pool is well maintained and the grounds are peaceful and isolated. The closest neighbors are two chestnut-colored horses in a nearby pasture. Three of the bedrooms have queen beds and en suite bath areas. The other two bedrooms have double beds and share a bath area. All the bathrooms are newly remodeled. Plenty of towels are supplied. The furnishings in the house are handsome and comfortable. The house has wi-fi and TV and cell phone coverage. There is a spacious kitchen, a full range of cookware and dishes, the usual appliances, and a barbecue in back of the house. The house has a view of the valley and the colors in evening light are spectacular. We explored the medieval fortress (La Cite), the Centre Ville of Carcassonne and the surrounding area. The property has trails through the forest around the house. We also took walks through the vineyards to neighboring Palaja and Cazilhac (2 km). Morning coffee can be had in both, and the boulangerie in Cazilhac has almond croissants for under a Euro. Most enjoyable were the dinners al fresco in back of the house with as many as 15 guests. Barcelona or Provence are within reach by train and train service to and from Carcassonne is good. In summary, this rental is a very roomy classic French manor house in a peaceful location with an enjoyable pool, and has a very serviceable kitchen in which to cook for a crowd. This rental lends itself to gatherings of friends or family and makes a good base from which to see many interesting places in France and Spain (we even went to Andorra).

La maison a beaucoup de charme et est située dans un cadre superbe, très calme, en pleine nature. La piscine est idéale pour petits et grands, et est suffisamment ensoleillée. La description donnée sur ce site correspond parfaitement a la réalité. Autre atout, cette location est très bien située pour découvrir cette belle région
