Large independent house for 6 people, with garage and shaded garden in authentic southern village, located in the middle Hérault valley in the middle of vineyards between Cévennes and the coast. Ideal for walks, swimming, culture, idleness, gastronomy and '' exotic '' evenings.
Nearby, Pézénas, charming protected old town, with many houses and mansions dating from the 16th to the 18th century. It is the town of Molière whose works are still celebrated there. Many castles have been built in the area (Cassan, lavagnac ..). Nearby also visit the gardens of Adrien '' the most beautiful garden in France '', Villenevette former royal factory, Valmagne Abbey, Parc de Bessilles ...
Lodève at the gates of larzac combines nature, tradition and culture, the Fleury museum, the Priory of St Michel de Grandmont, Cirque de Navacelle (geological curiosity on the Larzac plateau) and the lake of Salagou.
St Guillem le Désert one of the most beautiful villages in France with the Abbey of Gellone listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, a haven of peace. To see also the gorges of the hérault the bridge of the devil, St Jean de Fos village of pôtiers, Montpeyroux and its classified growth.

Les propriétaires sont très agréables et super gentils. Je recommande les yeux fermés. Il y a absolument tout ce qu’il faut dans le logement. Notre séjour a été parfait.

This is a beautiful traditional house. The garage is underneath so the house is on the first floor. It is lovely and cool in the heat as the floors are all tiles so easy to clean too, and there are lots of windows on all sides so they can be opened on the shady sides to allow air and breeze but not direct heat.
It is in a great location as a number of places are in easy driving distance, Meze, Agde, Marseillan for the coast and Beziers, Montpellier, Nimes, Arles for towns and cities and the Camargue/Cevennes/Lac Salagou for nature.
The village of Paulhan itself has lots of amenities inc a number of restaurants and the weekly market whilst not huge or as big as Clermont l'herault, has enough to be able to buy food for a few meals
The owners are very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
If there is a downside it would be the garden. It's very private and lovely to sit in but access is down the steps from the main door so you have to walk all the way round. Not a problem if you're just going to sit out for a while but if eating outside and carrying food plates/drinks etc. It has to be planned. That said, we did it most nights.
We would be more than happy to return and probably will be doing.
