We were between 8 and 16 adults and 4 children - worked absolutely fine. The owners, Daniela with family, are very nice an helpful. The area is beautiful.

Let me start by saying what wonderful and helpful people Daniela and her family are! The accommodations could not have been more perfect for our family (my husband, myself, and our 4 children), my mother-in-law, and my parents. So that was 9 people total and we never felt the least bit crowded. There was plenty of space for us to convene as a large group, but at the same time, we each had our own quiet, private space to retreat to when we needed. It was too cool for us to use the pool, but it was very tempting! We picked this location specifically because we could use it as a home base and explore Florence, Siena, and Assisi each in a separate day trip. It worked beautifully. We gained a true cultural experience by exploring the village of Ficulle, using our minimal knowledge of the Italian language, hand motions, and the friendly people's eager helpfulness. 100% recommend Casale Rotanselva!! *Note: We actually stayed here in 2013, but it wouldn't let me input that date.

Rotanseva is an “Agritourismo” in a bucolic environment with views of the countryside. My wife and I vacationed at Rotanselva for three weeks in late Spring and had a memorable, comfortable and relaxing time. The main house and cottage accommodated our family of 13 with ease and complete privacy for us, our adult children and grandchildren (ages 3 to 13). The swimming pool was cleaned daily by Roberto. The town of Ficulle was a picturesque walled medieval village having a marvelous restaurant with local food. However, be prepared to enjoy a leisurely dinner. Travel by train was easy. From the station, only 7 kilometers from Rotanselva, trains go directly into the center of both Florence and Rome. The Etruscan city of Orvieto (22,000 people, approximately 15 kilometers down the Autostrada) offered an underground necropolis dating back to the 6th century BC., as well as many wonderful shops, museums, and restaurants. Sienna was also easily accessed by rail; however, we drove to enjoy the countryside. All in all, we would recommend Rotanselva as a destination in Central Italy facilitating easy access to other historic Italian cities and sites. The only negative was the 1.8 kilometer State maintained dirt road from Ficulle to Rotanselva which needed extensive repair. We found the owners, Daniella and Roberto, genuinely gracious, easily accessible and dedicated to providing their “guests” a comfortable and friendly environment.
