The house was just as hoped for from the photographs on the site. The garden is lush and tropical and private. The surrounding area was very quiet and tranquil, yet one didnt feel overly remote. The house is set up from the main town but with a car it is only a few minutes to the excellent facilities available in the town centre. Fantastic coffee shop (Hout Bay Coffee), hats off to their Mega Moringa! All the other day to day shopping easily available. Also have the wonderful Marina area with craft market and restaurants. And PLEASE try the peri peri chicken livers at Chapmans Peak hotel. The house was really welcoming, and so much more than just a rental. Loved it, and would happily return again.

Lovely wooden house. Think Swiss chalet or Swiss family Robinson! V quiet as surrounded by trees and lovely Japanese style garden. Can get pretty windy and being a wooden house it creaks a lot! Need to drive to the beach as quite a steep walk up and down. Area is really nice. Bedroom and bathroom upstairs are open plan on a mezzanine floor but v nicely done. Some of the wood and the furnishings are getting a little tired but overall had a reallly enjoyable stay.

Our family was so lucky to find this beautiful house. It is located in a the safe and beautiful area of Hout Bay. The house is equipped with everything you need even washing machine and dryer which was perfect for us. The property was very clean. In Hout Bay you find shops and restaurants only minutes from the house. The restaurants we visited were very good. We can highly recommend this house.

African style, cozy and spacious house with everything you need for a relaxing holiday! Two terraces, barbecue place, adorable garden with pool and lounge chairs. Master bedroom has two balconies. Fully equipped with everything you need. Situated in a very safe area (whole Hout Bay is a safe place to be) surrounded by mountains, sometimes you could even hear the sound of the ocean wich is nearby. Can be a bit windy in afternoons during Jan (Southeaster) like it is in the whole capetwown area and close to the ocean. WE slept wonderfully and loved the galery of the Master bedroom. If you do not like the open bathroom (the shower was totaly fine when we were there middle of Jan), there are two more bedrooms with adequate privacy. But: this house is definetely not a party house or a house suitable for groups who want to party. It is perfect for a couple or a family.

The house is lovely decorated has lots of space and everything you need for your comfort. It is nicely located close to the places to go. You have a wonderful view to the mountains and the garden is full of trees and flowers. There are 2 separate bathrooms equiped with showers and toilets and 1 open ensuite bathroom upstairs in the master bedroom. The kitchen has everything from expresso machine to microwave. When we arrived the owners where still cleaning and redecorating the house as some wild people left a bit of a mess including a demaged amplifier. But they offered us a nice glass of vine and once that was finished the house was in perfect shape. We love to come back to this wonderful house and warmhearded owners.

Doesn't live up to expectations

We were very excited to stay here, but unfortunately there are a lot of things which don't make our stay great. The house seems to be situated in a very unfortunate place because the wind seems to be funnelled down the mountain and it blows a gale almost incessantly, even when it is not windy anywhere else in Cape Town. The whole house is made of wood which means there is a constant creaking at all times of the day and night, making it very difficult to get a good night's sleep. The main bedroom is on a mezzanine floor, which means that at all times you can hear anyone in the lounge/kitchen downstairs, which doesn't make life great if one person wants to sleep while others are up. Furthermore, there are few curtains in the main bedroom, and none in the lounge at all, so you cannot sleep past daybreak anyway. These three things conspired to make sleep elusive for the entirety of our holiday! My wife was in fact excited to get home so she could finally get a proper sleep! A few other issues which we didn't think were ideal: The main bedroom and bathroom is open plan, so your partner in the bedroom can see you when you use the toilet (some people may not have an issue with this, but we do!) The bathroom floor upstairs is warped (the whole house is wood), and whenever you walk across it is makes the most monumental amount of sound. There is a bedroom below, which means anyone sleeping downstairs is woken up with a shock any time you use the bathroom during the night. We were not allowed to use the shower in the main bedroom because it leaks into the bedroom below. The 3rd bedroom is actually outside (a sort of semi-detached cottage). There was no key for the door, so we were informed we had to keep the door unlocked at all times. This is South Africa, it has a few issues with crime! This certainly doesn't lend itself to a restful night of sleep! The most unfortunate thing was that the amplifier in the lounge blew up and we were immediately accused of maliciously breaking it. We were told the sound system was worth over R300 000, and would have to buy the owner a new amplifier worth €20 000! Only after a lot of negotiation did we manage to convince the owner we didn't destroy his amplifier and in the end were lucky enough to pay only R3 000 for repairs. In the interim however, being accused of malicious damage and threatened with excessive bills caused a lot of stress while we should have being enjoying our holiday.

Das Haus liegt wunderschön in einer ruhigen und sicheren Lage. Es gibt dort keinen Durchgangsverkehr was es wirklich ruhig macht. Es ist wirklich im Haus alles vorhanden und das Internet ist sehr gut und schnell. Auf der Veranda kann man super die Sonne geniessen. Alle Einkäufe kann man gleich um die Ecke erledigen. Joachim ist ein klasse Gastgeber. Wir waren dort zu fünft und alle waren happy. Jederzeit wieder gerne.

Die Villa sieht genau aus, wie auf den Fotos, Haus und Pool sind sauber und gepflegt. Der Vermieter ist freundlich, hilfsbereit und unkompliziert - trotz unserer sehr späten Anreise hat er uns fröhlich empfangen und alles gezeigt/erklärt! Auch gute Tips zu Stränden/Einkaufsmöglichkeiten/Restaurants hatte er parat. Einrichtung: Küche, Wohnzimmer und Bäder sind gut ausgestattet, man findet alles was man braucht. Steckdosen und Verteilerstecker sind genug vorhanden, sogar eine Kabeltrommel für draußen. Die Soundanlagen im Haus sind klasse, insbesondere die weiße Box hat uns viel gute Musik am Pool beschert! Das ganze Haus ist innen und außen bequem und gemütlich eingerichtet, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Lage: Die Villa ist zwar nicht zentral gelegen, aber das wussten wir ja vorher und wollten es auch so! Es ist dort ruhig und friedlich, mit einem Mietauto (oder Uber, das ist in Südafrika wirklich günstig) kommt man hervorragend in alle Richtungen - ein ausgezeichneter Ausgangspunkt für alle Ausflüge. Einige Male sind wir den Hügel auch zu Fuß hinunter spaziert, um in der näheren Umgebung essen zu gehen. Winzige "Schönheitsfehler": - Das WLAN könnte etwas besser/schneller sein, hat aber auch für 5 Leute reichen müssen - Im Wohnzimmerbereich vorm großen Kamin gibt es nur sehr schwache Beleuchtung, wir haben zum Kartenspielen zusätzlich unsere Taschenlampen montiert - Zweimal wurde der Strom in unserem Gebiet für einige Stunden ausgeschaltet (das wird wohl in Südafrika wegen Netzüberlastungen manchmal eingeplant), bei Reaktivierung ging die Alarmanlage los (nicht so laut, als dass es die Nachbarn geweckt hätte, aber wir haben's doch mitbekommen). Das hätte man zwar nicht verhindern können, aber eine kleine Vorwarnung wäre nett gewesen, daher: be warned! :D

Für Kleinkinder hin und wieder etwas tricky... Vor allem die Treppe zum Schlafzimmer in Obergeschoss. Allerdings kann man mit allem gut umgehen und es gibt ja auch 2 weitere Schlafzimmer im EG. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und konnten uns gut erholen. Joachim war jeder Zeit erreichbar und die Kommunikation und der Ablauf waren einfach und unkompliziert. Insgesamt ein schöner Urlaub mit traumhafter Location.

Deze villa voldoet bijna aan al je wensen (geen vaatwasser) maar verder is het hier goed toeven en is van alle gemakken voorzien. Zeker een aanrader als je niet in het drukke Kaapstad wilt overnachten. Kaapstad is niet ver rijden en parkeren in een overdekte garage kost eur 3,50 voor 6 uur en is goed te bereiken, wordt netjes gereden.

Die Villa Tivoli ist ein absolutes Traumhaus mit toller Aussicht und afrikanischen " Lodge Charme" - eigentlich ein Urlaubshöhepunkt für sich. Wir haben uns immer sicher gefühlt ( guarded area ) und Joachim ist wirklich entspannt und verlässlich. Wenn es stürmt, kann die Nacht abenteuerlich werden - ist halt ein Holzhaus. Hout Bay ist der ideale Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Natur, in Kapstadt ist man mit dem PKW in ca. 20 Minuten. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Wir durften 4 Wochen in diesem wunderschönen Haus verbringen. Die Beschreibung und die Bilder auf der Online Beschreibung versprechen nicht zu viel. Es ist einfach alles da, was man braucht um sich wohl zu fühlen und entspannen zu können. Das Haus strahlt eine wohltuende Atmosphäre aus, in welcher man sich sofort entspannt. Die nähe zur Natur welche das Holzhaus einem ermöglicht ist einfach einmalig . Die Umgebung ist ruhig und sehr gepflegt. Wir haben uns stets sicher gefühlt. Vom Eigentümer sind wir sehr herzlich und offen empfangen worden, so dass wir uns sofort zu Hause fühlten. Er gab uns viele hilfreiche Informationen, führte uns in die "Motorradwelt" von Kapstadt ein und war stets erreichbar wenn wir Fragen oder Anliegen hatten. Wir besuchten die Sprachschule in Seapoint und konnten das Haus in diesen vier Wochen zum lernen, entspannen und einfach sein, so richtig geniessen. Die Lage eignet sich jedoch auch ausgezeichnet um die Gegend erkunden zu können. Das Einkaufszentrum Woolworth in Haut Bay verkauft Lebensmittel mit ausgezeichneter Qualität so dass der BBQ Grill von uns fast täglich gebraucht wurde. Wir haben viel Zeit in Haut Bay verbracht. Tolle Spaziergänge unternommen, den Seehunden zugeschaut, am Hafen fein gegessen oder den Kunstmarkt am Sonntag besucht. Eine taumhaftes Haus

Die Villa Tivoli ist einfach traumhaft. Ein wuderschönes Holzhaus daß liebevoll eingerichtet ist ob es sich nun um die Bilder, die Skulpturen oder die anderen Kunstgegenstände handelt. Abgesehen davon ist alles vorhanden daß man zum leben braucht, eine offene Küche komplet eingerichtet, ein Wohnzimmer mit offenem Kamin, ein Fernsehzimmer mit gemütlicher Couch. Begeistert war ich auch von dem Pool der in einem herrlich angelegten Garten liegt. Von der Terrasse aus hat man einen wunderbaren Blick auf die beeindruckende Umgebung. Für mich war es ein unvergesslicher Urlaub und mit Sicherheit nicht mein letzter in diesem Haus.

Wir haben über Weihnachten, Neujahr das Haus gemietet in Hout Bay und waren mehr als glücklich. Die Lage ist sehr angenehm, da man sehr schnell in Kapstadt, in Kirstenbosch oder am wunderschönen Strand in Noordhoek ist. Es gibt überhaupt so viel zu sehen, dass zwei Wochen einfach nicht reichen. In Hout Bay gibt es ein paar schöne Restaurants, wenn man nicht weit fahren möchte. Das Haus besteht komplett aus Holz und ist daher sehr gemütlich. Es ist sehr schön eingerichtet mit einer grossen Küche, vielen Sitzgelegenheiten zum Ausspannen....was will man mehr. Der Vermieter hat uns sehr herzlich empfangen und war auch immer für uns da, wenn wir Fragen hatten. Wir waren eine Gruppe von 5 Leuten und alle waren sehr zufrieden. Vielen Dank! Wir haben leider nur eine Woche in diesem traumhaften Domizil verbringen können, da wir nicht mehr Zeit hatten. Die lage in Hout Bay war für uns ideal, da sie genau zwischen den Hauptattraktionen Kapstadt Downtown und der spektakulären Felslandschaft der Südspitze Afrikas liegt (jeweils in ca 30min zu erreichen und allein die Autofahrten dorthin sind unvergesslich). Tagestouren in die Vinelands oder die kleine Caroo, aber auch Richtung Norden bzw. Osten sind gut möglich). Für uns als größere Familie war das Haus ideal mit seinen 3 Schlafzimmern. Ja, das "Elternschlafzimmer" mit Bad liegt offen auf der Empore, was wir aber als wunderschön offen und großzügig empfanden. Der Blick oben bei geöffneten Fenstern und Türen ins Grün des Gartens und dahinter die Bergkulisse ist phantastisch. Die Eigentümer kümmern sich rührend, so individuell wie das Haus ist die Betreuung, kann ich nur empfehlen. In Hout Bay selbst gibt es, zur Not sogar Fußläufig, alles Einzukaufen was man so braucht, ein Paar spektakuläre Restaurants inbegriffen (Das beste thailändische Restaurant ganz Afrikas!!! Ich kann bestätigen das es sehr gut und außergewöhlich ist) Aber auch hier kann man sich auf die Tips und Empfehlungen des Eigentümers verlassen. Wir sind nächstes Jahr, wenn wir es irgendwie einrichten können, ganz sicher wieder in Südafrika und in diesem Haus. LG an Achim und Familie, Grüße Kai und Familie

Im Januar 2012 haben wir in der Villa Tivoli einen traumhaften Urlaub verbracht. Wunderschöner Garten, extravagente Ausstattung, viele Kunstgegenstände, ruhige Schlazimmer mit ausgefallenen Bädern. Es war alles vorhanden, was wir uns für einen schönen Urlaub erträumt hatten. Atemberaubender Blick über die Bucht in ruhiger Lage. Für Unterhaltung sorgen Radios und Musikanlagen in jedem Zimmer - in allen Variationen. Oder der Kunstmarkt am Hafen in Hout Bay. Till und Nadine

Es war wunderwunderschön!! Wir haben uns sofort in die Villa Tivoli verliebt: Der afrikanische Stil, der Braai Platz, gemütliche Sofas, frische Blumen zur Ankunft und eine fantastische Aussicht von der Terrasse aus! Ein Haus, das wirklich mit allem ausgestattet ist, sei es Nadel und Faden, Bücher, Musik, Fitnessgeräte, Pool, Waschmaschine, einfach alles da! Begeistert haben uns sofort die vielen kleinen Tivoli Radios. Egal wo man sich gerade aufhält, man kann immer Musik hören! Leider hatten wir kaum Zeit das Haus so richtig zu genießen. Da müssen wir wohl nochmal kommen und länger bleiben... Abends kann man gut mit dem Taxi nach Kapstadt/ Long Street fahren (ca. 150-180 Rand eine Strecke). Es war ein wunderschöner, viel zu kurzer Urlaub in einem einzigartigen Haus, das man am liebsten kaufen würde! Vielen Dank und bis hoffentlich bald!

Nach ca. 35 Min. Fahrtzeit v. Flughafen erreicht man Hout Bay u. üb. eine steile Straße bergauf die Villa Tivoli.Ein verwunschenes Holzhaus, eingebettet in einen sehr schönen Garten und rundherum abgeschirmt. Innen und außen sehr geschmackvoll dekoriert mit Bildern und afrikanischen Plastiken und zu unserer Ankunft frischen Blumen. 3 individuelle Schlafzimmer mit Du/WC, 1 Badewanne, so dass auch eine größere Familie oder einige Freunde darin gut Platz finden. Leider hatten wir viel zu wenig Zeit, um Pool, Braii oder Terrassen mehr zu nutzen, gar nicht zu reden von der unglaublichen HiFi-Anlage. Nachts ist es absolut still - wir haben uns auch zu jeder Zeit sicher gefühlt. Die Lage des Hauses ist sehr gut, um schnell in die Stadt oder in die False Bay zu kommen. Auch nachts ist es kein Problem per Taxi v. Cape Town in die Villa Tivoli zu gelangen (ca. 200 ZAR). Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit und telefonisch jederzeit zu erreichen, sollten sich Fragen ergeben. Wir hoffen, bald wieder die Villa Tivoli mieten zu können und würden sie jederzeit weiter empfehlen.

Erholung in der Villa Tivoli

Über drei Wochen haben wir uns zu zweit und in der letzten Woche zu dritt in der Villa Tivoli sehr gut erholt und uns zu Hause gefühlt. Das Haus liegt sehr schön im grünen Garten. Auf der gedeckte Terrasse haben wir viel Zeit verbracht. Zwischendurch pfeift der Wind und dann lässt sich sehr gut zu einem geschützten Aussenbereich ausweichen. Wir haben uns jederzeit sicher gefühlt. Auch ist das Haus sehr gut ausgerüstet und hat genügend Platz sich zurückzuziehen. Ein sehr guter Standort um die Nahe Umgebung und Kapstadt zu erkunden. Die Vermieter haben uns herzlich begrüsst und waren auch während unserem Aufenthalt interessiert ob alle OK ist. Wir können das Haus sehr empfehlen!
