About this house rental

Bar Harbor license number VR2R25-199
Unusual architectural design with a large deck overlooking a protected harbor and a private island. The property is separated into the main house and the bungalow. The main house has one bedroom with a double bed, one bedroom with a single bed, one full bathroom, and a large room the incorporates the full kitchen, a dining table and a sitting area with a couch and a TV. There is also a working pellet stove perfect for Spring and Fall visitors The Bungalow has two twin beds (which can be pushed together) a sitting area and a full bathroom. The structures are conected by large deck with built in seats. The house is built on a slope so when your sitting on the deck you feel like your in the trees, thus, The Treehouse!

Extremely quiet surroundings, at end of a long drive belonging to Green Island. You'll have access to a launch area at the end of the drive to put in a kayak or canoe. The area is perfect for paddling around and exploring. There are two small islands to visit for a picnic or a swim, a colony of seals to watch (please try to respect their space) and if your lucky Bald Eagles and Opreys nesting and hunting in the area. This side of Mount Desert is often sunny when other parts are fog bound. The water is warmer here and more calm. Perfect for Kayaks and canoes.

Lovely setting with good access to all parts of the island and mainland. Sunset and wildlife watching from the dock was a special treat. The property is a little dated, but very cozy. We enjoyed it & would stay again.

This property is so peaceful & private, in such a beautiful wooded setting - with water access!! The house & bungalow are comfortable, tastefully decorated, & had all the amenities we needed & more. Loved the large windows & the deck! we also loved walking down to the private dock & even swam a bit. Great proximity to Bar Harbor & Acadia. Can’t wait to return-

Great location, veiw blocked by trees, but still love the privacy and short walk to dock to see the sunset and wild life. Clean and well stocked. If you have kayaks, bring them, i don't but wish i did as would been great to explore the bay by the dock. Would love to stay again.

We stayed at the Treehouse in early Oct and I have been going back and forth about whether or not I should leave a review. I have spoken with the owners who are very kind, and they have shared our concerns with their cleaner and caretaker, both of which are new this year. I didn't want to leave a critical review and possibly hurt their business, but I rely on honest reviews and believe others do, too. I suspect most of the issues that follow will be resolved by the time the Treehouse opens for the spring. First, the location is perfect. It is quiet and there is only one other house that is close by. We saw seals when we walked down to the area that you can launch a kayak or canoe. We also saw a bald eagle one morning. Unfortunately, you can see only glimpses of the water from the Treehouse. The trees have grown since the pictures were taken that are on VRBO, so you see mostly trees. We didn’t bring our kayaks, but we were looking forward to sitting near the launch area and enjoying the water view. This didn’t happen. The launch area is very close to another house and to enjoy the water would be very intrusive to those renting that house, as you would practically be on their back deck. I stood there one afternoon and watched the seals when the renters weren’t home, but I felt incredibly uncomfortable and only stayed a few minutes. I think this should be better clarified on the listing. The granite stairs leading up to the house are tricky when it is raining, dark out, and when you are carrying luggage and/or groceries. The house needed a good cleaning to get rid of the musty smell, mold, dust, and cobwebs. It could also use some general maintenance like replacing the front screen door that has duct tape holding the screen, fixing the bungalow door so it isn’t so difficult to open and adding or fixing the lock, replacing the broken toilet seat, securing the lights above the bed so they aren’t dangling on a small hook, and replacing the blind in the bungalow since it doesn’t work and only covers half of the window. These are the items that the owners have discussed with their caretaker and cleaner so they shouldn’t be an issue for future renters. When we rented the treehouse, we weren’t expecting luxury, but we were looking forward to staying in a clean, well maintained home, with harbor and island views. I don’t want others to be as disappointed as we were.
