About this house rental
Nicely situated between the village center of Southwest Harbor with its charming shops and restaurants and nearby Long Pond and the western mountains of Acadia, Golden Cove Cottage offers its guests equal convenience to both the National Park and downtown amenities with its Seal Cove Road location. Whether by foot, bicycle, or car, venture just one-half mile to Main Street to reach the Charlotte Rhoades Butterfly Park with lovely gardens and water views and down a little further towards the village center to take in the programs and exhibits offered at the Wendell Gilley Museum. The many shops and restaurants of Southwest Harbor are also sure to delight and when you're ready for more adventure, head over to nearby Long Pond to enjoy hiking, fishing, boating, and swimming in the National Park. And once ready to explore Bar Harbor and the other areas of Acadia, just pop back to Main Street again to catch the free Island Explorer shuttle to reach the east side of Mt. Desert Island.
FIRST FLOOR: Enter into a generous front hall with a spacious Laundry room to the left. Large Living Room with comfortable seating and gas fireplace (available early spring and fall). Dining table with seating for six. French doors open to a sunny, private deck. The living room opens into a well-appointed kitchen with a breakfast bar and seating for two. A cozy bedroom offering a set of Twin beds is followed by a charming sunny bedroom with Queen bed. These two rooms share a bathroom with a shower only. The master bedroom with King bed and en suite bathroom offers a shower only. looks out onto the wooded area and deck. Excellent closet space throughout.
OUTDOOR SPACES: Furnished deck with a gas grill and fire pit offers a pleasant space for grilling, relaxing and dining outside.
EXTRAS: Air conditioning in the common living area and primary bedroom.
PETS: Pets are considered. Please review the pet policy in the rental agreement. The pet fee is $140/pet. Submit the age, weight, and breed with reservation request.

We always enjoy being on the Quietside of MDI. We chose this property due to its proximity to the finish line of the fall MDI marathon. We could not have been happier with our stay at Golden Cove Cottage! It was very comfortable and well equiped with all the comforts of home. You can tell the host take great pride in, and good care of, their home and we appreciate them sharing it with us. We also enjoyed their beautiful photography of many of the special spots around MDI. We are especially grateful for a host who welcomes our dogs as they always travel with us as part of "the pack". We cherish our visits to Acadia National Park and all it has to offer. During our stay at Golden Cove Cottage, we were very happy to discover a new running route between Long Pond and Echo Lake via Lurvey Spring Road, it was so peaceful and beautiful in all of its fall glory. We had a wonderful stay, thank you!

The location was perfect for us! We appreciated the closeness to Acadia national park, but really enjoyed being in a less busier place.

Golden Cove Cottage is a lovely home. Pros: Clean, nicely decorated, equipped with everything we needed (except bath soap). Keyless entry was easy and convenient. Loved the welcome gift of blueberry soda and jam, and dog treats. The area information was helpful; especially the book on hikes to take with your dog. The gas fireplace was wonderful and the firepit on the deck was nice as well. It was so great to have a washer and dryer, a nice foyer where we could hang our jackets and leave our shoes. The recliner sofas were wicked comfortable and great for movie night.
Cons: it is located on a busy road. Many dump trucks and regular traffic going by all day. It was not a good road for walking, which is too bad, because you are close enough to walk to downtown Southwest Harbor. It was too noisy to sit on the front porch and even affected the enjoyment of the back deck. It would be great if there was a gate for the deck to make it safer for a dog or small child. The yard is very small; so not much area to give a dog a break. We had to drive to a trail. Many of the windows did not have shades; the ones that did have shades were insufficient. The light from a nearby street light shone in all night, and the sun came in very early. Some blackout shades would be helpful or just an additional curtain.
