Previous guest reviews:
Bird Haven is a home that exemplifies the quiet side of the island … off the beaten path, where the sound of the birds is louder than the road and where you are closer to nature than commerce. This location allows you to feel like you are a world away from civilization but has all the liveliness of Bar Harbor within a 20-25 drive. Whether you are up for adventure or shopping, both are available nearby in Southwest Harbor. Seal Cove is just a few minutes away, where you can have a picnic or go watch the sunset, or see the Milky Way. The house is a very clean and lovingly renovated jewel. Three cozy bedrooms and an open kitchen/dining room/living room area allow comfortable areas for time alone or fun interactive time! Tucked away in a hidden wood, there is a very large deck that provides a perfect outdoor space. For anyone who enjoys the better things in life, there is also a new outdoor cedar shower!

Bird Haven is the perfect name for this house. One morning, I sat on the back deck drinking coffee, listening to a variety of bird songs. I was curious about what birds were singing to me, so I opened my Merlin app. The app identified 10 birds. It felt like a dream, and was such a welcome morning after the traditional hustle and bustle of normal day life. While we aren’t hiking, we love hitting the water at Seal Cove Pond, located only 10 minutes away. It’s truly a hidden gem of Acadia National Park. You can swim, kayak, or paddleboard here. Last summer, a bald eagle flew out of a tree in front of me while I was paddling. Definitely bring your binoculars if you come. The house has all the amenities we needed. The beds are comfortable, and we got a great night’s sleep every evening so we could rest up for the next day’s adventure. I love to cook, and there were plenty of new pots and pans, appliances, and an outdoor grill. Speaking of outdoors, there is a beautiful cedar outdoor shower. We were glad to experience the Quiet Side of the island and have already booked again for this summer.
