Boat no Breakfast

We loved staying on this house boat in Amsterdam! Just a few minutes walk from Central Station in a central yet quiet location in the city centre. The accommodation is spacious with 2 large comfortable beds and is well equipped. The shower is great too. The lockable metal gate and coded entrance to the living area made us feel safe and secure. I really don't think we could have had a better place to stay for our holiday in Amsterdam. It was beautiful being right on the water rather than staying in a hotel and added to our experience.

We liked everything about it.

We loved how central it was and having everything so close by . It was a fabulous experience being on the beautiful canal. Rudd our host was there to meet us and was welcoming and very helpful.

Excellent host, great location and everything you need for a stay in Amsterdam.

Boat no Breakfast was comfortable and clean and spacious. With really thought out features making for a great and enjoyable stay. It was in a nice quiet neighbourhood with an easy walk to a variety of transit options. Opposite there is a lovely local bar and a short walk a cafe and record store that we went to most days. Ruud welcomed us with nuts and fruit which was lovely.

However, I am afraid I will not be staying at Boat no Breakfast again and I am hesitant to recommend it. This property asks for a €200 cash security deposit, we did not bring cash and so Ruud took the payment on card. He did not explain that the costs of this would be passed on to us, nor is it written down in the listing at all if a card payment is chosen. This cost us approximately €7 in fees, I have never had a deposit taken this way ever on any property I have booked through booking.com. This is something set totally independently by the owner and if your home currency isn't in Euros then the guest are at a loss either way. I am not sure what Ruud expected us to do with €200 in cash on the day that we are leaving Amsterdam! If your home currency is Euros and this deposit method doesn't bother you then this is a fine place to stay. However, if you don't want to be charged at least €7 or left with €200 in cash at the end of your stay I would stay somewhere else.
