About this villa rental

Monastero San Ansovino is a 12th century Benedictine monastery nestling in the breathtaking and tranquil hills of central Italy at the crossroads of Tuscany, Umbria and Le Marche. It has been lovingly restored into an elegant and comfortable holiday home using all original materials. Modern conveniences such as en-suite marble bathrooms, Wi-Fi broadband internet links, a large American-sized fridge, professional range cooker, and several sitting rooms ensure that everyone in your party has space to relax. Outside, our upper terrace has a large loggia with seating for 20. There is a large swimming pool for those hot days, and 12 acres of stunning hillside grounds to meander through if you feel like a walk. The tranquil setting makes it the ideal destination for family holidays, tracking and exploring. There is an excellent restaurant within walking distance, together with a wine bar and a bar/shop (open 7 days a week). San Ansovino lies about 4KM East of the beautiful medieval village of Apecchio which offers a wide range of services including a bank (with ATM), several supermarkets, bars, numerous excellent restaurants, a post office, chemist etc. The world famous UNESCO City of Urbino is just 40 minutes away, as are other beautiful hill towns such as Gubbio, Sansepolcro.

We had a wonderful time. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed and more. The pool was excellent and the kids (and adults) loved it. The house was clean and well equipped and we enjoyed using the pizza oven and BBQ during our stay. The location was ideal with supermarkets and restaurants nearby but it was remote enough to relax, get away from it all and enjoy the scenery. The hosts Louise and Marc were wonderful and really helped us both before and during our trip. I would highly recommend staying here :)

An amazing, authentic house; tucked away in the hills of the Marche. A place that offers everything a foodie loves: Fresh herbs, pizza oven, extended kitchen equipment, plus the occasion for a real Italian Cooking class, with three generations female Chefs. Great communication with the owners, and absolutely amazing daily service by Alfio, the pool man. Would highly recommend this place if you are in for a lovely time in nature (hikes), combined with spending time at the pool.

Ansovino is a very special place. Stunning, sophisticated, well appointed and very peaceful. It's obviously a place much loved by the owners Louise and Marc, as is testament by the beautiful antique furniture and top end equipment. Also Anna is on hand to give local advice and sort out any problems quickly and efficiently. It was very hot during our stay but there was also a wonderfully cooling breeze which made for a perfect mix. Great local restaurants and beautiful cities to visit a shortish drive away. The house also has the cleanest windows I have ever seen!
