Lovely cottage, clean with excellent facilities. Very centrally located, easy access and parking

The keys were in a key safe and we were given the pin number prior to arriving.

The 2 locks on the door were quite stiff and difficult to get key in and turn it. But sorted out with WD40

Comfortable and well thought out home.

Very comfortable and clean property, great bed, shower and attention to detail. One of the nicest holiday lets we have stayed in, right in the centre of Rothesay and nothing had not been thought of and provided!

It was great, Rothesay itself is a little run down but it is the perfect base from which to explore the island.

Absolutely loved everything - the cottage provided a warm, comfortable haven whilst in Rothesay. We loved the cottage and serendipitously discovered whilst there that my great uncle lived at 22 and my great grandfather lived at 13 bishop st mid 1840’s. The cottage gave me a real sense of what their lives might have been like before immigrating to Australia 💕

Nice return to Bute after 60 years!

Close to centre, lovely property with exceptional facilities and storage. Very comfortable. Owners responsive to some minor issues with WiFi and tv. Unexpected arrival of Waverley and sea trip made the difference.

Road noise! Some minor issues but internet isn’t great on Bute.

A perfect place to stay

A wonderful cottage right in the centre of Rothesay with all the facilities a couple could need. We travelled by bike and there was a space to keep them safe. Everything was beautifully clean and well organised, and we had a warm welcome and every possible help from the hosts. We will be back.

Fabulous few days on a beautiful island

Unassuming from the outside, but don't be deceived the cottage has plenty of space and a garden room, keeping it light. Has everything needed, comfy chairs, well stocked kitchen with all appliances, very comfortable bed (just watch your head as the ceiling slopes on one side), and a good shower. Lovely sea theme to the decor. Couldn't fault the position within a few hundred yards of the ferry, sea front, Co-op, Bute Yard and cafes. Handy for the rest of the island too.Julie (owner) made several recommendations for places to eat/drink and they were spot on.

No designated parking, but was not an issue as we always found somewhere on the streets close by without any problem... we had planned to use buses to both ends of the island in order to walk back, but they were very infrequent to the northern end. Possibly better in high summer.

Easy check in,got parked on road right accross from cottage,much bigger inside than you think from outside,Location was 2 mins from ferry,shops,pubs and restaurants a few minutes walk,cottage was spotless,had everything we needed,bed was big comfy and linen,duvet ,pillows etc cozy,we slept like babies

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Old Fisherman’s Cottage and hope to return next year!

We liked everything about this property from the friendly welcome on arrival, to the lovely cosy sitting room and bedroom, well equipped kitchen and bathroom and the added bonus of conservatory, courtyard and bike store. The location was really convenient too for shopping, bars eating out and harbour. We are more than happy to recommend this property.

We didn’t dislike anything but one or two kitchen implements may help self caterers eg a bread board, tea strainer, cafetière, a few more mugs , tin foil etc but non are essential of course!

Weather & location of cottage disappointing, not something easily fixed!

Self catering. Location of cottage a little disappointing. No nice views. Sadly the weather was poor during my stay, so not in the best of moods! Very convenient for a couple of nice restaurants.

Having a perfect place to stay really enhanced our visit to this special island.

Warmth of greeting from Julie, our host. Literal warmth and comfort of this tastefully furnished and well equipped cottage. Proximity to the pier and all facilities - you could see the ferry when you looked down the road. Garden room that caught the sun. Wool blankets and hot water bottles for extra luxury and comfort. Pre-set central heating providing warmth just when you needed it. Julie makes sure guests have contact details in case of any problems plus she lives next door.
