Great place to stay had plenty of space for all of us. Hosts where quick to response with any questions. Kitchen had a verity of cooking supplies. Over all a great place would definitely go back. Only issue was the road getting in. The road getting into the property was rough with pot holes and was half dirt. Kind of difficult for the small cars with us. So if you plan on pringing a boat dont drive it down the road because its a dead end with no where to turn around. But other than that the stay was amazing and cant wait to return.

Our recent stay at this Vacasa rental was unfortunately quite disappointing, especially considering the price point. From day one, the central A/C was non-functional during a very hot week. While the host, Dionne, was responsive and did her best to arrange daily service visits, the issue was never resolved. By the end of our stay, five window A/C units were installed to help make sleeping more tolerable, but the main areas of the house remained uncomfortably warm. In addition to the A/C situation, there were several maintenance and cleanliness concerns. Dishes in the cabinets were dirty and had to be washed before use. Cobwebs were visible in areas that should have been attended to by cleaning staff. A broken trash can lid in the kitchen and a non-working lamp in the game room added to the sense that the home was not properly maintained. The game room itself was too hot to use. One of the more alarming issues was that service workers used our personal shop vac to clean filthy air filters and ducts—something that should never happen. Their vehicles also took up our limited driveway space (we were only allotted four parking spots), which was frustrating. The exterior also had safety concerns: the railing leading down to the dock was loose and posed a hazard. Upon arrival, the outdoor trash bin was overflowing from the previous guest, though Dionne did have it picked up after I reached out. We also experienced water intrusion during rain—our upstairs bedroom had wet carpet and luggage due to water leaking through a door to the balcony, which also had a swollen frame. The kitchen had a strong, unpleasant odor upon arrival, and we avoided using the stove entirely due to the indoor heat. There is no icemaker, which was disclosed, but still inconvenient given the circumstances. Lastly, the road leading to the house is a very rough dirt road full of potholes—not ideal for most vehicles, and it would have been helpful to receive a heads-up about this. To be fair, Dionne was kind, communicative, and made every effort to remedy the situation within her control. Unfortunately, the A/C required full replacement, and with the owner out of the country, it simply couldn’t be resolved in time for our stay. That said, this rental fell far below expectations and needs significant attention to maintenance, cleanliness, and infrastructure before it can be considered guest-ready—especially at the current rate.

The AC barely works, trash in the yard, back porch and yard nasty and the dishes in the cabinets were caked with food! Overall the worst vacation rental we have ever rented!

Location was awesome-serene and beautiful. House is well appointed, well equipped and actually is better than the pictures (rare in VRBO world). Lived all the deck space to enjoy Hill Country lake life.

We had a great time at Elk Lodge. Let me start with the things we didn't like: The interior and exterior stairs need repairs (loose handrail inside and rotting exterior wood outside). The gameroom/bunkroom, as others have said, is really hot compared to the rest of the house. It is August in TX too. We had to crank the A/C down to 68 to get that room to cool down to 73 overnight (our toddlers were sleeping there). I think there is only one A/C unit for the whole house, so the other rooms were very cold at night to cool off the bunk room. We brought a fan for the second night, which helped. The kitchen cookware should be thrown out, it's all scratched up and the non-stick pans are trashed. It doesn't need to be fancy, even a cheap set from Walmart would suffice. The cookware shouldn't look like it's from a hunting camp. My brother and his girlfriend said the bed in the downstairs master suite was very uncomfortable, but that can be subjective. Check in after 4pm and check out by 10am was annoying. It was difficult to have breakfast at 7-8am and be ready to leave by 10am. But this could have more to do with getting our large group with small kids moving quickly. The things we liked: The size of the house is great for 6-10+ people and the location is very convenient for finding things to do. The waterfront access was great for kayaking (included), fishing, watching the bats at dusk, and the stars at night. We went to Longhorn cavern state park (10 mins away), which was really fun (Jim was a great tour guide!). Overall, we had a great trip. Some issues were annoying, but we still had fun. However, for the price of this rental, these things should get fixed or other solutions (get a portable a/c unit or something to help the bunkroom!) would make it seem like a premium rental.

The house was easy to find and wonderfully located close to our favorite wineries! We brought our boat and it stayed safely at the dock. We fished and caught plenty of catfish from the dock. The dock does need a good power wash, lots of bugs and spider webs. There aren’t any life jackets for the paddle boards and no paddles for the kayaks. We sure would have liked to use them! The inside of the house was very clean, and plenty of room for a large crowd! The kitchen sink definitely needs a new faucet and there is not a working ice maker. The master bed room was immaculate BUT the bed is much to be desired. It’s an old memory foam mattress that is overly worn to the center. It had been flipped to the underside and a hard seam around the whole thing stuck into you. No mattress cover and thin sheets. For a luxury home, a luxury bed would be expected. This alone will keep me from staying here again.

The porch had so much seating area.
