What a gem of a place! We will be back!

We really hit the jackpot with this accommodation!! Very spacious and peaceful with it's own little private garden. Everything and more that one could need. Got a great welcome by the Owner, loved the extra touches, fruit bowl, yogurts, cereals, milk, rusks etc. Walking distance to many great restaurants on the beachfront. Loved the friendly cats that sauntered over for cuddles. We would highly recommend this stay!

If you like wild cats on your bed stay here.

Conveniently located near the ocean.

The owners took in a stray cat that would consistently find its way into the room. I would come back home to a dirty cat laying on my bed. The worst part is the could not be touched as he was prone to biting. When I told the owners they said I wish we could do something for you but there was a disclaimer that said cats were on the property. The disclaimer did not say a wild biting cat would be sleeping on my bed. I had to move out midway through my trip. The professional thing to do was to reimburse my time but they didn’t.

Excellent hosts, spacious cottage - minutes from the cliff walk.

David and Colleen are incredibly welcoming, helpful and easy-going. The cottage is brilliant, very spacious with a separate bedroom and lounge area with a kitchen. It has everything you need and was a great place to have some quiet relaxation. It's situated just a few minutes from the picturesque cliff walk, so I was able to catch many a sunset and watch the whales from the cliff tops. David even helped drop me off with my bags to the pick-up point for my bus. Highly recommended and will be my first point of call when I'm back in Hermanus!

Impeccable stay at Funky cottage

Funky cottage has so much character. The art inside attests to this. The place is over and above well equipped. Very spacious. Hosts were exceptional. Would definitely utilise this venue again.

Friendly, comfortable and perfectly situated cottage with everything you need.

We absolutely loved the Funky Cottage! The warm and friendly interior...colourful and eclectic. The beautiful garden with a corner just for us to enjoy the winter sun. We slept so well with the gurgling fountain ourside and the bed is big and very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and basic groceries were provided. The cottage has secure parking and overall security is very good. From the cottage to the Cliff Path we needed 5 mins. We rented bicycles in town and needed 10 mins either way to town and to the new harbour.The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome ( My tip: visit their shop in town to buy all your gifts) We will definitely stay here again!

Amazing hosts in a fabulous funky cottage

David and Colleen are outstanding hosts. We stayed in their cottage for 4 nights and it was very comfortable. We felt very at home. Our hosts seem to have thought of everything. Even a starter kit of water, milk, butter etc was supplied. The location is excellent, very close to the cliff walk. We took a boat trip out and saw 12 southern right whales at close quarters. From the town centre the next day we saw more whales from the shore. They were breaching close to shore. An amazing place. Don't hesitate to visit. Funky Cottage is highly recommended.

Funky Cottage!

We were very comfortable. Mattress was comfy and we had everything we needed. WiFi was a bit wonky at times, but owner sorted it. Owners very friendly and helpful. Short walk into town. Shower drain tended to be blocked a bit, but owner said he would sort it out. 👍 If I can suggest anything, it would be putting a motor on the gate.

Exceptional

Having our own cottage and entrance drive was a big plus. The owners went out of their way to make us welcome & comfortable. The main selling point, which we were unaware of when we booked, is that when there is load shedding (which we had one evening) the lights stay on, the TV works and there is WiFi. Not many places we know of offer this facility even at the top end of the market. One can walk out of the property and within a short distance walk along the cliff top path into town enjoying the views on the way.

Cottage had lots of character and was very spacious....funky indeed. Plus lovely garden and cozy BBQ facilities. We wanted to have some peace and quite and we got exactly that. The hosts was friendly and they made us feel at home.

A relaxing and enoyable stay in a beautiful area with many attractions

The cottage was clean and comfortable with a pretty garden It is well equipped for a convenient and comfortable stay. The accommodation price was very reasonable

Although the cottage was equipped with electrified mosquito repellent to keep insects at bay (especially at night), I would have preferred it to be fitted with fly screens. The cold water tap in the bathroom is difficult to close and I unintentionally wasted water as it continued to drip at times.

Wir würden jederzeit wieder dort buchen

Die Einrichtung ist ein ungewöhnlicher MIx aus afrikanischem und asiatischen Stil. Wirklich funky. Es gibt jede Menge Sitzgelegenheiten. In Kühlschrank und Küche erwartete uns eine kleine, vielseitige Ausstattung, vom Kaffee bis Joghurt war alles da. Die Gastgeber sind überaus freundlich. Auch im kleinen Gärtchen haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Es gab überall so viele Kissen, dass man sich kaum hinsetzen konnte.
