About this house rental
Dragonfly is an elegant, comfortable one-of-a-kind, 'mountain retreat', off Ski Valley Road, and midway between the town of Taos and Taos Ski Valley. Exquisite ‘top of the hill’ 360 degree views of Taos Mountain and explosive sunsets across the plains. NOTE: We are shifting to 31 days or longer rentals due to a new ordinance that restricts short term rentals in Taos County. This 5250 sqft gated private estate on 5 acres has Southwest ambiance throughout with 3 kiva fireplaces, viga ceilings, copper sconces, nichos, and luxury decor and original art.
Hummingbirds and dragonflies are frequent visitors in the extensive gardens full of local Rocky Mountain wildflowers, roses, lavender and fruit trees. Have your morning coffee in the front garden, or an evening barbeque in the back gardens with the rock waterfall/pond full of water lilies and tiger salamanders. Relax in the magical ATRIUM with orchids, ferns and flowers and surround sound, in the den/MUSIC ROOM. Enjoy the steam room shower in the main master bedroom after a day of hiking or skiing the slopes. Pass to nearby spa/fitness center/pool provided upon request.
The living room with its custom bronze entertainment cabinet, kiva fireplace and wet bar offers relaxing evenings. Dragonfly has a fully-equipped kitchen with professional range-oven, espresso maker, waffle maker and more, and a breakfast bar that opens to a gracious formal dining room with kiva fireplace. Enjoy 4 master bedroom suites (k, q, q +twin, 2 twins), each with unique decor, ensuite bath, walk-in closets...a rare find in Taos. (Extra nomad floor foam mattresses and queen sofa bed available for larger groups). With living, eating, and sleeping areas both upstairs and down, it feels like two houses! We typically house 5 to 10, however, we can accommodate more persons with advance notice and preparation. It’s a palace for a couple. Please enquire first for groups more than 10 and disclose total number in your group at the time of your booking. It is also lovely space for writers, composers, screenwriters, and artists.
For winter months AWD or 4WD with clearance is required as snow and ice can be sudden and generous.

The home is exactly as shown in the photos— ts of room for a family of 7 adults. The location is midway between Taos and Taos Ski Valley, which is a real plus and a much better choice than staying at the mountain. I also want to give a shout-out and thanks to the owner, who was very responsive to all questions.

Our family enjoyed our 6 days there immensely and the house is so unique. Everyone had their own space, but it was easy to get together as a family. I would love to come back in warm weather to see the grounds. This was a trip that added many good memories.
It did snow and that was special and the skiers sure did enjoy their 4 days on the mountain.

We were two families. Lovely house was ideal for us, four bedrooms, each with private bath, extra sofa bed in play room. House lends itself to relaxing at the end of the day or short drives to many nearby eateries. Location also good for hiking on Wheeler, also about 30 minutes to Los Rios River Runners (highly recommend). Piano available for those who enjoy relaxing at the keyboard. Alexa plays whatever else you'd like. Swamp cooler helps control temp downstairs. We have noted "life in the country" water pressure issues everywhere we've stayed in Taos area, this was as usual, but workable. Plan to recommend to friends. Owner was very easily accessible for questions.

My wife and I invited three other couples over to Taos for a concert. It was a Thu thru Sun stay. There was plenty of room, and multiple balconies were really beautiful. Each room had its own special charm. The dining area and kitchen were ample for our group, where we played games at the table. The game room was a huge bonus as we battled it out on the ping pong and air hockey tables as music was played on the baby grand. We enjoyed a BBQ in the incredible backyard alongside the small pond area. This was a great place for all of us and we would definitely stay there again.
