"Furnished to the nines" with ultra fine taste - Mountain View proudly shows an array of fine art, upscale furniture and furnishings. It stands unique as one of the very few vacation rental homes to have a pool table.
So named for its panoramic view of Taos Mountain from the Upper los Colonias Mesa between the town of Taos and the Taos Ski Valley. Enjoy this view from the open living area, kitchen, patio, hot tub, several of the bedrooms and the large adobe wall enclosed yard.
Located 4 miles from Taos Plaza, 14 miles to Taos Ski Valley and minutes to hiking trails. Enjoy shopping, restaurants, or hiking, biking, fishing and more in just minutes.
With 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, one sleeper sofa, Mountain View comfortably sleeps 12 people with plenty of living space left over. An Executive style master wing includes a very spacious bedroom with King bed and large bathroom with double sinks, jet tub, separate walk in shower and steam room. A second master bathroom comes equipped with a tub/shower combo. A third bathroom with shower only is shared between the two guest bedrooms and alcove.
Cooking and entertaining is a pleasure in the custom designed gourmet kitchen with adjacent wet bar. Fully furnished with upscale cookware including 2 coffee makers - one for regular and one for decaf, the outstanding kitchen will delight even the most passionate chef.
At the end of the day guests may star gaze while relaxing in the Hot Tub, play a game of pool by the kiva fireplace in the den/pool room. Sip your favorite beverage on the patio or simply relax by watching a movie or ball game on the 65 inch HD TV in the gracious open living area.
From the time you walk in the front door and say , “Wow!”, to the interesting, but subtle, curved architecture and all of the different amenities, Mountain View will provide you a comfortable, relaxing and pampered vacation with memories you won’t soon forget. The house was very comfortable with nice furniture, beds and kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked and the fenced backyard was perfect for our dogs. We enjoyed the hot tub. Would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous home in a gorgeous setting! Mornings sitting outside with a cup of coffee, admiring the Sangre de Cristo mountains...evenings watching the spectacular sunset...doesn’t get any better. House has everything you need for a fabulous get-away. Hated to leave!

We spent two weeks at the Mountain View house. This is our fourth visit to Taos NM and our second time staying at the Mountain View House. Our visit was lovely and restful just what we needed. The house is perfectly suited for our needs and had everything we wanted to cook and rest and take walks around the area. Our two small dogs loved the backyard and we felt safe allowing them to walk around the area without being disturbed or hurt. They loved the green grass which is rare for the area. We can’t wait to return and will definitely stay at Mountain View again.

We booked this property primarily for the gourmet kitchen. We were informed day of arrival that the fridge was out of service. Looking at past reviews it has been out of commission for 7+ months. The stand-in fridge requires a journey through the house and into the garage to access. Definitely not a convenient detour. And definitely not acceptable to not be informed well in advance.
The fridge was not the only amenity that did not work as advertised. Neither jets in the tubs work - another long-term unaddressed issue according to past reviews.
The cleanliness left much to be desired. We found used masks in two of the rooms, a pair of glasses in another, and a crumpled sock in yet another. Both bathtubs had to be wiped down before use due to excessive hair left behind. The glass doors to the back patio and pool room had visible handprints when we arrived.
The grass was not mowed and was higher than the bellies of our 15-pound malti-poos.
Important rules (like the fact we needed a crate for our dogs when we left the house) weren’t disclosed until after we arrived and happened to read it in the guest book.
Communication with the caretaker left a lot to be desired. The brief, clipped texts did not convey much hospitality. Instead we felt like we were an inconvenience and minimal communication was preferred - including the morning we had to navigate a power outage.
Like I said - I should have read past reviews. Everything I’ve mentioned (with the exception of the uncut grass) has been brought up before. Which is unfortunate, because the house itself is hands-down a 5-star home. Absolutely stunning. If/when the other aspects of the experience get addressed, it would be a very desirable stay.
