Form Over Substance: Poor Attention to Detail, Imbalanced Dining, and Security Management Loopholes Overall, this hotel—which markets itself as a high-end luxury property—leaves a disappointing impression of "form over substance." First, I must acknowledge and thank the hotel for providing a complimentary room upgrade upon check-in, which demonstrated an initial gesture of hospitality. However, as the stay unfolded, the careless execution of physical details, gaps in customer service, and a half-hearted dining concept severely undermined that initial goodwill. More importantly, there were notable safety hazards that cannot be overlooked. Hardware Details and Room Safety: Careless Inspection and Hidden Risks of Injury - Despite the room upgrade, the installation quality of the bathroom remains the most concerning aspect of the guest room. During this stay, I sustained a cut on my hand (a bleeding wound of about 0.5 cm) due to poorly finished, sharp edges on the bathroom fixtures. For a luxury hotel, providing a safe living environment is the absolute baseline. When even basic facilities harbor risks that can cause physical injury to guests, it raises serious questions about the standards of their engineering inspections and routine maintenance. Dining Concept: Seemingly Plentiful but Monotonous and Lacking Sincerity - Regarding the breakfast experience, the buffet selection seemed abundant at first glance, but a closer look revealed a severe imbalance in the menu structure. Taking the Chinese section as an example, up to two-thirds of the items were merely side dishes and cold appetizers meant to accompany plain congealed rice (congee). There were virtually no other hot Chinese dishes or items reflecting culinary creativity. Resorting to a large volume of repetitive side dishes to fabricate a sense of "abundance" is not only monotonous but also reveals a lack of sincerity in food cost management and menu design. It falls short of the fine dining expectations held by high-end clientele. Service Quality and Staff Training: Deficient Professionalism and Misplaced Priorities - On the service front, the hotel's soft power visibly lags behind its hardware. While some frontline staff were friendly, they clearly lacked rigorous professional training, often displaying a "deer in the headlights" cluelessness when handling basic guest inquiries. Even more disappointing was the service team at the first-floor Lounge. Not only were they cold and indifferent, but they also showed glaringly disparate treatment toward different guests. Ironically, the team only displayed high proactivity when it came to "reminding guests about extra charges." This lack of warmth severely degraded the experience expected of a luxury stay. Crisis Management and Executive Attitude: Blame-Shifting and a Lack of Empathy - The injury incident exposed a severe deficiency in the hotel's crisis management. When I reported the bathroom safety issue to the lobby staff the following day, their immediate, defensive reaction was to shift blame, stating that because "housekeeping was not notified on the spot, they were unaware of the situation." Even though they subsequently asked if I needed medical attention, the gesture felt formulaic and dismissive. Furthermore, when I firmly requested that they send someone to inspect the hazardous fixture in the room, the feedback I received was that "no issues were found." This refusal to face physical defects and the attempt to downplay responsibility show a complete lack of the stature and accountability expected from a premium establishment. In summary, this hotel fails to meet passing standards in hardware execution, staff training, culinary sincerity, and safety control. The pleasant surprise of a room upgrade could not make up for the shortfalls in the core guest experience. I would like to specifically caution prospective travelers—especially families traveling with young children—to remain highly vigilant about the safet

I was genuinely impressed by our stay at The Lin Hotel in Taichung! To be honest, the room didn't look like much in the photos online, but being there in person changed my mind completely. The quality of materials and fixtures used in the room is outstanding: The sofa features real leather seats, though keep in mind the cushions are a bit on the firm side. Convenient electric blinds and a fully functional automatic bidet with sensors. The room doors are surprisingly thick and heavy, providing excellent soundproofing for a peaceful night's sleep. On top of the great room experience, the breakfast buffet (LV Forest Buffet) is worth every single penny. The spread is massive- offering everything from full American options to fresh Asian dishes. Everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and decent quality. Considering the room quality and the top-tier breakfast, the stay offers amazing value for money. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Taichung, and I would definitely stay here again!

Overall, this hotel seems to have serious problems with its management and basic guest service. My experience included the following: 1. Poor cleanliness:I found pubic hair in the toilet when I arrived, which was very unpleasant and unacceptable. 2. Inappropriate housekeeping timing: At around 10:00 a.m., staff knocked on my door and asked whether I wanted housekeeping, even though it was not my checkout day. This was disruptive and made me feel that the hotel did not properly manage its housekeeping schedule. 3. Poor luggage handling before check-in: When I arrived to drop off my bags before check-in, the staff asked me to leave them in the driveway, which was hot and exposed to direct sunlight. This did not feel like a safe or appropriate place to store guests’ belongings. 4. Elevator problems during checkout: At the 11:00 a.m. checkout time, I had to wait approximately 20 minutes to get downstairs because both elevators had been locked for checkout cleaning. Blocking both elevators at the busiest checkout period shows very poor planning and management. 5. Misleading online photos: The photos shown on Agoda appear to be heavily edited and overly Photoshop-enhanced. The actual hotel and room did not match the online presentation. 6. Non-functioning fridge: The fridge in the room appeared to be only a prop. It did not work properly and was dripping and crying inside. 7. Poor delivery handling: I ordered food delivery, but after being stuck in the elevator for around 20 minutes, I discovered that my food had simply been left outdoors. This was especially frustrating because it reminded me of how my luggage had also been left outside in the hot driveway before check-in. Taken together, these incidents suggest that the hotel has serious problems with its overall management.
