Subtawee Resort

Stayed 16-19 August, 3 nights, in the Happiness Double room. We had a VERY good stay here. This room was just next to the pool, which had a double bed and a single bed. The mattress was comfortable firm, we had 3 very good nights’ sleep. Aircon worked well to cool the room quickly. Place is a little dark, despite 2 super bright down lights in the centre of the room, & the rest of the light bulbs were so dim you could barely see anything. The toilet was bright enough, with a fancy LED mirror, which was at odds with the rest of the furniture - their sofa chair and another rattan chair was very old and tired, the rattan chair had a hole in it, you couldn’t sit on it. We sat on the two stools (poufs, actually) and that was adequate. The room is not completely sealed, which allows small creatures to find their way in through the cracks. While we were there, there was an earthworm in the bathroom, and a millipede crawling next to the bedside table. 😂 But I must say the staff are lovely, even if they can’t speak English - we got by with Google Translate & our limited Thai. Housekeeping is clean and efficient. The bedsheets are clean, but worn with holes patched up. While we didn’t use the pool, we could it was clean, with the occasional fallen leaves. The hotel is just opposite a temple which has a ramshackle market at its other end (about a 3 min walk) that had pretty interesting food - but no place to sit. So just pack & go back to your room to eat. There is a pretty big Lotus’s about a 3 min drive from the hotel that has a KFC, & many small restaurants along the way. You’ll need to have your own transport to visit the places of interest like the Dam and the Strange Stones - takes at least 15 mins drive to the dam & 35 mins drive through oil palm plantations to the remote Strange Stones. You can also take a day trip on to the Cheow Lan Lake, but we were quoted such a high price of 5 thousand baht per person for just a 6 hour trip, so we didn’t go.

Owner very accommodating and great value for money for this place. Would stay here again.

The door lock needs to be fixed gor safety, and the pillows are too hard. There are some cockroaches in the toilet and shower area due to cracks in the walls. Also, please avoid putting too much fabric conditioner on the floor, as the smell is too strong. Overall, it’s an affordable and okay place to stay.
