The first thing I feel I need to mention is the location, as unfortunately this had quite a big impact on our stay. We found the immediate area around the hotel quite concerning, particularly in the evenings. There were often groups of men standing around watching people passing by, we witnessed what appeared to be drug dealing taking place openly, and there were a number of people who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. As visitors to Hamburg, this made us feel very uncomfortable walking to and from the hotel. I do want to be fair to the hotel itself, because the issues with the surrounding area are obviously outside the hotel’s control. Our concerns are about the location rather than the hotel staff or management. However, I do think prospective guests — particularly people travelling alone, older visitors, or anyone who may feel vulnerable walking around at night — should be aware of what the immediate neighbourhood can feel like. Unfortunately, regardless of the hotel itself, we would not stay here again because we simply did not feel comfortable or safe enough in the surrounding area.

We had a very pleasant stay at Stay! Hotel Boardinghouse. The location is extremely accessible, right by the main road, and the area is brightly lit, which made us feel safe throughout our stay. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the service standard was great – staff were professional and helpful. I initially had some concerns after reading a few reviews mentioning a “dodgy” neighbourhood, but this turned out to be a non-issue for us. We did not feel uncomfortable at any point during our stay. Overall, a comfortable and hassle-free experience. Would recommend it to travellers looking for a convenient and reliable place to stay.

Rooms are basic and clean. The staff is super nice and friendly. The hotel though is located in a non-friendly and VERY loud area. Staff did their best to help but there is only so much they can do.
