I booked a last minute midweek stay at Peckforton Castle. I felt that the price of under £70 with breakfast, a deal was on when I was booking, was fantastic. It was my first visit to the castle. I missed out on reserving for dinner and the receptionist confirmed it was fully booked when I checked in. If you are planning to eat in the evening, remember to book early. The room was large and spacious with a comfortable bed. While some distance from the reception, I enjoyed the walk up exploring the castle. There were three downsides. 1.) Unable to book a table to eat in the evening...so book early or eat out before arriving, or go with some food. 2) Someone else tried to enter the room and then reception came to help and opened the door. It materialised that prior guests had changed rooms and wanted to check all items had been removed. Slightly disconcerting as a solo traveller..... 3) My breakfast order was wrong, but quickly rectified. I had ordered a vegetarian breakfast and was presented with a full English. I slept well and the sounds of nature and woodland views were peaceful. I would happily stay again.

Had an evening with mum booked last minute availability,,, due to very low price. Had to upgrade to executive room as my mum wasn’t able to do all the stairs. ,,, wanted one next to lift. £30 to upgrade. So was ok. Staff lovely. Also there was stairlift also to access breakfast area if needed. ,,, room was lovely. Not much of a view from window. But didn’t detract from our stay. As we was t there to sit looking outta window. Only gripe would be brasserie menu. Is very limited in its choices. So on this occasion sadly we ate out at bunbury. ,, breakfast was lovely young gentleman realy nice attentive nothing too much trouble. H

The castle is AMAZING! The room and staff are excellent.
Our only gripe was that on check-in we were told a room number but the room actually had a name so we walked around a bit until we were brake enough to try the key in a door. It's also somewhat remote so if you like to stock up on snacks, etc. get them in advance or be prepared for a drive along the country lanes :-)
