Unfortunately, our two-night stay for our anniversary was a major disappointment, especially considering this is advertised as a five-star hotel. The biggest issue was the cleanliness of the room. The bathroom, and particularly the shower and bathtub, were not properly cleaned before our arrival. There were hairs left on the side of the bathtub from previous guests, and the non-slip bath mat/foot support inside the bathtub was visibly dirty. It was honestly quite disgusting to see, and this is simply not acceptable for a five-star property. The breakfast was another major disappointment. We tried almost everything available, and unfortunately very little was enjoyable apart from the fresh fruit. The eggs were not good, the sauce served with the Eggs Benedict tasted sour, and the pancakes were extremely dry. The quality was nowhere near what we would expect from a five-star hotel. What was most disappointing, however, was the overall level of service. Having grown up around the hospitality industry in Thailand, I am very familiar with the standards expected from four- and five-star resorts. Based on our experience, this hotel felt much closer to a three-star resort than a five-star property. There was very little proactive service throughout our stay. For example, while spending time by the pool, nobody came to check whether we would like anything to drink or needed anything. These small details are exactly what distinguish a genuinely high-end resort experience from an average hotel stay. We also had an issue with food delivery. There is a notice at the bellboy/reception area stating that deliveries sent to the hotel will be brought up to the guest’s room. We ordered food delivery because, unfortunately, we did not want to eat at the hotel restaurant. When we called to ask about our delivery, we were told that bringing it to the room was not part of their service. As a result, my partner had to walk down to reception, collect the food himself and bring it back to the room. This was particularly frustrating because it directly contradicted what was stated at the hotel. We mentioned this to the Front Office Manager the following morning, but apart from an apology, there was very little reaction or attempt to resolve the situation. The beach shuttle was another example of poor communication. We were taken down to the beach using the hotel’s shuttle, but we were not informed that we needed to book the return journey in advance. When we later called to be picked up, we were told that the shuttle would not come until a certain time and that we should have booked the return in advance. Had we been told this when being dropped off, we obviously would have planned accordingly. We were left with the impression that the shuttle operated according to a schedule rather than requiring a separate booking, so this should have been communicated clearly to guests. What also struck us was the complete lack of follow-up throughout the stay. Even when we checked out, nobody asked us how our stay had been, whether everything was satisfactory, or whether we had any feedback. Considering the number of issues we experienced, it was surprising that there was never any genuine attempt to check in with us or understand our experience. This is a real shame because we chose this hotel specifically to celebrate our anniversary and were expecting a special five-star resort experience. Instead, the cleanliness, breakfast, service, communication and attention to detail all fell considerably below what we expected. Overall, based on our two-night stay, we would personally rate the experience closer to a three-star resort than a five-star hotel. There is a significant gap between the five-star standard advertised and the level of service we actually experienced.
