Booked a night here to wind down from my busy life.style Lovely historic manor house in beautiful grounds. Well located for M56 motorway and Chester. Coastal area near. Near to Welsh border. Welcomed by staff. Everything I needed to know explained. Beautiful spacious room with adequate bathroom. Overlooking gardens and water feature. Fan supplied in room.Also tea coffee and water. TV in room. Went walking in the rural area. Dined at restaurant. Good food. Sunday menu or litebite menu served sundays. Large screen in bar area. Breakfast was plentiful Took a walk around the perimeter of manor house before I left. Canadian geese on lake. Manor house is over 3 floors. No lift for anyone with mobility issues need to mention this to get suitable room.Plenty of safe car parking space. Great offer of dinner bed breakfast on jue to August for 2 people at ***. Well worth the price for a peaceful treat This stay was just what I needed

For some reason I can’t upload the photos I want to show you, I have a suspicious reason why that is. Anyway I first stayed at this hotel about 7yrs back, and it was wonderful. That has now changed. We stayed here a week ago and I can honestly say never again. When we arrived we had the misfortune of meeting the most obnoxious receptionist we have ever met, I thought that was bad enough until we saw our room. We stayed in room 23, when we opened the door it was like being hit with a flame thrower, the heat was horrendous, the room stank of damp, there was black mold in one corner and the wallpaper was coming away from the walls, this is no exaggeration my photos would prove this. I immediately phoned reception and said I wanted a different room. I was told the hotel was fully booked so no rooms were available, if we weren’t in a group who were attending a funeral we would have left immediately. I said at least could we have a fan for the room, we were told the should be one there, which there wasn’t, the receptionist said she would bring on straight away. An hour later we were still waiting for the fan. So I phoned again, the receptionist answered what can I do for you, I said we still hadn’t had the fan, she said there should be one in the room, I said you were supposed to bring me one an hour ago, she said well sorry but I am extremely busy. That was it I went down to reception and told miss obnoxious in no uncertain terms I wanted a fan now, she said she would get one straight away, within 15 minutes she arrived at the door with a fan. I went to plug it in and noticed the fan was broke and was just detached from the spindle, a 2yr old child could have seen that. I was fuming and took it back to the receptionist who was very belligerent and didn’t give a damn. I said I wanted another fan , she said I won’t promise I can get one I told her if she didn’t get one I would take the one from her reception desk. We decided we would go out and buy a fan, when we got back later that night there was a fan outside our door, so we decided with the fan we bought we would also use the hotels fan, after 20minutes or so, the hotel fan literally exploded, it was the same fan that we had earlier which had just been stuck on, but the screw holding the fan cage on had not been put on, so the cage fell off and the fan itself flew across the room. The following morning before leaving I met the manager Hannah who totally agreed and was so shocked by our treatment, that she agreed to refund me

The room was so musky smelling, a very big dirty path on entry in the carpet, and light switch to bathroom filthy with a built up of grime from years of not being polished clean, did ask the reception to clean it but it never got cleaned ..also the beds were impossible to sleep on as so hard and uncomfortable and the one disabled spot in the car park was constantly taken up by a none disabled car parked their for our duration, did tell reception staff that a non blue badge holder was taking up our only place to park, we had to park a long way from the hotel and walk from the over pill car park ....we had our rooms in the attic part of the hotel and with it not having a lift made it hard for us to climb the many stairs...lovely grounds at the hotel but the room was so basic and nothing like the photos displayed when booking online ....
