As other travelers have indicated, this hotel is a mixed bag: located 1 minute from the main station, it is easy accessible, but it's also located in a very tough part of town with an open drug scene and a shocking number of drug addicts ***. Coming from Western Europe, I have not seen images like this since the 1980s when there were open drug scenes in several big cities. It is located just aside a very charming restaurant, Schifferbörse (very recommended, especially for the atmosphere and wonderful staff) and in 15 minute walking distance to the main sights of the city. The hotel is currently being renovated (on the outside), but the inside is in much more need of renovation. The rooms are dated and urgently need maintenance. The out-of-date standard is probably insufficiently reflected in the price. As other travelers have indicated, the rooms are not soundproof and you hear your neighbors chatting.... The hotel's biggest challenge, however, is its staff. No matter who one talks to, they are incredibly rude, especially the receptionists. I do speak German, so there were no misunderstandings or cultural miscommunication. It's just a plain lack of politeness and an astonishing absence of a 'customer-is-king' attitude. I personally have trouble understanding why the respective individuals were hired to represent the hotel. I also struggle to see how the hotel upholds the rather high standard that the IHG group sets. Airport hotels such as the *** have a infinitively higher awareness of customer relations and service.

Location directly at the train station is convenient, but not necessarily safe. Rte hotel was still under renovation following change in branding, so hard to say how it will come out. Room was very basic, bit breakfast was exceptional.

I would definitely recommend this place in case you are here for short trip. The issue I faced was with the low mobile network and no wifi in the room, I did get my room changed thanks to the front desk
