Escape Luxury Suite by CA DOMUS COLLECTION

We feel like we hit the jackpot with this hotel. Very well situated, we were able to walk to nearby landmarks and bus and train stations easily. The room was VERY spacious, the bathroom and room were clean and well designed and the air conditioning was great. Fridge and working safe in the room. Mood lighting in the bathroom and easy keypad access into the premises from the street and into the building. For the price point this hotel far exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.

Location is good

There is a lot to like about the Escape Luxury Suite (CA Domus Collection). It’s in a central part of the city, next to the Palazzo Barberini, near a metro stop. It’s in a safe, beautiful building—you walk into the front gate and there is an impressive sculpture in the small courtyard, and, once inside the building, an lovely stairway up two floors to the suite. (There is a small elevator as well.) Our room was beautifully decorated, the bathroom has a posh, modern design. But there was one major problem—NO AIR CONDITIONING IN OUR ROOM! Now don’t get me wrong: I grew up in the Mojave desert, so I’m no stranger to summer heat. But on the days we were there (July 12-16), Rome was in a heat advisory, and it was simply too hot in our room for us to fall asleep at night. The first night we actually slept with our door open, because there was air conditioning in the quiet hallway, and that was the only way to cool down the room. It was either this or not be able to sleep. The next three nights we stayed there I took two cold showers before going to bed, and then, waking up in the middle of the night, take one more cold shower to cool down enough to fall back asleep. The receptionist said that there were no other rooms available, and made no effort to find us another place to stay. (He did get us a small fan.) Why didn’t we check out of this hotel and go somewhere else, you ask? The gentleman working the front desk said that they would get someone to repair the air conditioning, with many apologies. Well that didn’t happen. What did happen is that the next day the power went out for 6 hours in the afternoon, compounding our frustration with this hotel. By the third day, my wife and I agreed we would just suffer through some cold showers, drink extra electrolytes, and do our best to enjoy the rest of our time in Rome. I have sent emails and messages to the CA Domus Collection management, as well as the Agoda booking site, and they have refused to respond or engage in any way. This is not a company that takes responsibility or ownership in how they treat their guests. Caveat emptor!
