Everything was excellent till the end

My wife and I were awoken at past 1AM in the morning by someone opening our door and trying to enter … fortunately I thought to set the door stop and the person was stopped from entering. Then before I was able to call the front desk , the front desk called me. Explaining a mistake was made with room numbers and a staff person was checking the room. In the morning I went downstairs at about 8 AM to get an explanation … and was told that our name was associated with 2 rooms so someone from staff went to check. I said this was totally unacceptable and certainly unprofessional. As since the hotel was no where full that if they weren’t sure as to which room we were in that it certainly was not the right time to check by just entering , no knock , no pre call . Besides the main fact that is was past 1AM in the morning. We had said that we were staying just the one night because we had an early morning meeting in lower manhattan and wanted to be rested. Suffice it to say our sleep was disrupted, my wife was panicked and our stay was ruined. I again explained to the staff that this was such an unprofessional situation. When , since it was 8PM , they could have just waited til morning as we were leaving early morning and they could have realized which room we actually occupied. Staff needs to be retrained on proper hotel etiquette and customer service . The only saving grace is that the cookies are still good. Other then that our stay was a completely ruined and it’ll be quit some time if at all before we stay with Double Tree again
