Apartments Hakuba

Stayed in unit 1 on ground floor. Easy access. Was next to laundry room. Chromecast on TV didn't work. 1 small heater by drying rack. 1 radiator next to TV. No heating in rooms. Beds were comfy. Water pressure was strong and water heater was superb. Don't expect staff to help with anything.

Great place, two fairly well sized rooms for Japan, albeit you would want to be too fat or you want fit in the ensures. Everything there you need for meal preparation. 3 min walk to the lift. Had snow monkeys come visit. Well worth it

Booked 4 nites at Apartments Hakuba. We rented a car, so it was a short 5 min drive to Happo-One ski slopes. Overall, it was a great apartment in terms of location and size. Only thing it lacked for a ski trip is washing machine. And there was no way to contact the reception to ask for fresh towels (we stayed 4 nites and had to use the same towels all 4 nites). Other than that, loved the apartment as it was modern and clean and oh, kitchenette was very useful too.

We had a frustrating experience with their lack of communication, which could have easily been avoided with basic responsiveness. Or it could have just been the person that manages the agoda and whatsapp accounts. After booking a 7-night stay for our ski trip (non-cancellable and fully charged upfront), we reached out multiple times—over the course of more than a month—via Agoda and WhatsApp to request a quiet room on the upper floor. We had read reviews mentioning noise issues in ground-floor units, so this was important to us. Unfortunately, all our messages were ignored until we escalated the matter through Agoda. Only then did we receive a generic response stating they had not received noise complaints and would “try their best.” Upon arrival, we were assigned exactly what we had hoped to avoid: a ground-floor room near the stairs. As expected, the noise was very loud—we could clearly hear footsteps from the unit above and people coming down the stairs throughout the day and night. For the first two days, there was no on-site receptionist (only a self check-in counter), so we had to call a remote front desk based at another hotel. We were then informed that upgrading to a quieter room would cost an additional 10,000 yen per night. Fortunately, we had a car and were able to drive to the other hotel to make the payment and arrange the upgrade. Given the situation, we paid the fee immediately as we needed proper rest. The difference was significant—the new room was much quieter, and we were able to enjoy the remainder of our stay without issues. To be clear, we are not fussy guests. We simply wanted a reasonably quiet room and would have been perfectly willing to pay extra from the beginning if that option had been communicated. The most disappointing part of this experience was not the room itself, but the complete lack of response and assistance prior to our arrival. A simple reply could have prevented all of this inconvenience.
