ELICAL Luxury Apartments

The messages we received about how to meet were not the same as what really happened. Nobody met us at the gate- the directions we had been sent that day. We had to telephone the host number and then we were greeted by someone who still had his cleaning tools and bags at the apartment for another hour while we waited for the place to be ready. We had arranged to check in at 3pm but the apartment was not finished being cleaned until about 4.15 so we just waited around and sat in the bedrooms. This, after being told that there was. Nowhere for us to leave our bags all day because we had arrived very early to Rome (8 am) and were told tio go to a luggage storage. Ok, I understand, but just not very welcoming.

Location was the best part! Literally walkable to most sightseeing spots! Such a safe neighborhood! I was by myself with 2 kids and never felt unsafe - even then walking around at night.

The name of the property is luxury apartment - however I don't think it's quite there. It's definitely comfortable and clean! Just not luxurious.

Had a little plumbing issue and smelled up the whole apartment. The host responded immediately. The smell went away. Was advised not to drink the water.

Obviously the location is great. You can see professional approach here and there - an additional top on sofa bed, an extra A/C since centralized A/C doesn't work at night (we didn't feel like it was too hot anyway - the weather was all right in August), very good kitchen - plates, utensils, cups, water in the fridge, and a washing machine is great when you sweat in hot weather.

I don't know what pictures show on main booking page - there are maybe a few towards the end of the gallery that showed our apartment, much darker and smaller that those. Very cramped. Old cabinets. Smelly bathroom drains, especially in the morning. There is BVLGARI technical entrance right in front of windows - expect tons of noise like shattering empty glass bottles at 6am, pumping old oil, delivery trucks, again in the early morning, etc. Not an apartment fault, but you can definitely say windows are very thin. Finally, the owner/manager was rude. You can see that from their comments to other reviews they didn't like, they outright scream at customers. We were in airport at 6pm, messaged them, then it took us a while to get through huge airport, we sat into taxi at 19:40 and texted them we're right around. They kept sending messages through the day that "late checkin" is "30E", and not even trying to say something nice. At the door we rang the bell before 20:00, and waited for 5-7 minutes for someone to come, the time when they came out was 20:03 or something similar, and of course they immediately demanded those 30E, saying "rule, rule, rule, rule", not even trying to be nice or friendly. Of course there is nothing on booking about that. Absolutely cold, impersonal approach, nothing to have with Italian hospitality. Unfortunately Rome this year is overcrowded and we had to put up with this.
