Welcome to Comfort Acres—your private retreat on the Guadalupe River in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.
Set on 9.5 peaceful acres with more than 1,200 feet of private river frontage,
Comfort Acres offers the privacy, space, and natural beauty needed for a memorable getaway. Our completely renovated 1950s ranch house sleeps up to seven guests and is ideal for family vacations, weekends with friends, romantic escapes, and small gatherings.
Spend your days fishing, swimming, kayaking, tubing, exploring the riverbank, or simply relaxing beneath the property’s mature pecan and oak trees. Start the morning with coffee overlooking the river, watch whitetail and axis deer cross the property, and end the evening on the porch beneath a sky filled with stars.

THE HOME
Comfort Acres features three bedrooms and three bathrooms:
• Primary suite with a king-size bed, private sitting area, and en-suite bathroom
• Second bedroom with a queen-size bed and private bathroom
• Upstairs loft with two twin beds and a built-in twin bed in a cozy reading and play area
• Third full bathroom conveniently located downstairs
The open-concept kitchen, dining area, and family room provide plenty of space to gather. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, cookware, dishes, and utensils for preparing meals during your stay.
After a day on the river, relax in one of the four swivel recliners, watch television, read a book, or enjoy the river views through the two oversized sliding glass doors. A full-size washer and dryer are also available for your convenience.
OUTDOOR LIVING
With more than 1,000 square feet of decks and porches, there is plenty of room to enjoy the peaceful Hill Country setting. Share breakfast outside, visit with family and friends, watch the wildlife, or simply sit back and listen to the river and countryside.
Guests are welcome to bring their own fishing gear, kayaks, tubes, water shoes, and personal flotation devices. River depth, flow, and accessibility naturally vary depending on rainfall and seasonal conditions.
THE RED BARN
The property’s original barn has been converted into a casual entertainment and gathering space known as the Red Barn. It is perfect for family time, games, birthday celebrations, reunions, and other small gatherings.
Small events may be permitted with prior approval and within the limits stated in our VRBO policies. Please contact us before booking if you are considering a birthday party, family reunion, small wedding, or other special occasion.
A TOUCH OF TEXAS HISTORY
One of the home’s most unusual features is an 1860s George Steck square grand piano displayed in the music room. This rare instrument was transported to Texas by oxen and adds a wonderful sense of history and character to the home.
FAMILY- AND DOG-FRIENDLY
Children especially enjoy the loft’s reading and play area, outdoor space, and room to explore. Parents should always supervise children around the river, decks, stairs, wildlife, and other outdoor areas.
Comfort Acres also welcomes up to two dogs within the size limits and requirements shown in our house rules. Because this is a country property with wildlife and river frontage, dogs should remain supervised and under their owner’s control.

Although Comfort Acres feels wonderfully private and secluded, it is conveniently located near many popular Hill Country destinations:
• Approximately five miles from historic downtown Comfort

The property and property owners were absolutely AMAZING! We planned on staying a couple of weeks and ended up staying 2 months! The experience was excellent and the facility is all that anyone could ask for! The rehouse and river are a delight! A BIG THANK YOU to the Hegeners, for their generosity and understanding!

Absolutely stunning place! My college kids and their friends enjoyed having the red barn to hang out in (separate from parents). Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back.

The comfort, decor, space, beauty, location and size of this home is the absolute best. We have a large family and love to cook and enjoy nature and this place is the perfect place to do all of that and more. We cannot recommend this home enough. Stan was attentive and generous and truly cared about our safety and time. We were there at a very sad time and our hearts will always be with those who were lost.
