Dar Mayshad Riad - Luxurious Boutique Hotel in the Medina

Very nice interiuer & service Comfortable bed & bath!

We had the small room next to the dining room - you hear literally every word people are talking.

Breakfast was fabulous and so beautifully presented. We ate dinner here one night also and it was truly splendid. Maybe the best chicken tajine ever. All the staff were helpful and friendly. We really really appreciated the towel warmer in the bathroom and my wife said the hair dryer was the best she has ever had in a hotel or riad in Morocco (nice long cord and powerful and hot). The mini split allowed us to control the temperature of the room. The shower head worked well and was removable as a hand-held sprayer. Drinking water in the room, modern and ancient feel all at once. Beautiful decor.

There are always little things since no accommodation is perfect but nothing is worth mentioning.

Double room (Room #2) - comfortable, cute, lovely lighting, faces the inner courtyard (but not too noisy), next to residents' lounge (so you effectively have the whole floor to yourself, unless the staff are sleeping there but that didn't bother us). Well-located, next to the main old town-shopping street, but down a side road so not noisy. 3mins walk to Andalusian gardens and castle. 5mins walk to the seaside. Plenty of taxis on the main street. Located on the edge of the medina/old town so not rowdy and easy to leave the hustle and bustle.

Difficult to find initially (don't order any taxis to/from the hotel as they cannot get there). Order taxis to the closest main road. Once you've managed to reach the hotel once, you'll be fine. Staff do not make up the rooms, take out trash, replace water/cups etc. As most staff do not speak English, it will be difficult to communicate any requests. But as the hotel is a boutique, and the staff are quite friendly, you're free to fill up bottles, get more toiletries etc. yourself. Although the hotel does serve food, these are mostly snack foods. They do serve other meals e.g., couscous/tagine, but significantly more pricey than eating out as they are not on the menu.
