Cute family run inn across the river from the famous Bachkovo Monastery

Loved the secluded location in the woods by the river (with ample parking) and the courtyard with the swimming pool (seasonal).The restaurant downstairs is very cozy and the home-made katmi (Rhodope pancakes) for breakfast were delicious. The hosts were welcoming and courteous. The room was very clean and well heated in the winter.

The twin beds were very narrow and hard, almost Spartan. There was a slight sewage odour in the bathroom, which is quite common for rural areas in Bulgaria because of the old septic tanks.

A hidden gem at the very end of the street

Nice small complex with a good family restaurant, pool and modern hotel rooms. Excellent location on a 10-minute walk from Bachkovo Monastery. I loved the breakfast (a choice between pancakes, french toast or other sweet stuff), yet I can imagine that other people might find the choice somewhat limited.

I prefer a shower cabin over a bathtub, and refillable shower gel dispensers over small plastic tubes.

Quiet hotel with pool and traditional food near beautiful monastery.

Quiet location on outskirts of village surrounded by hills. Lovely swimming pool in which to cool down and relax on sun loungers. Beautiful monastery and many restaurants within walking distance.

Nice hotel but a warmer welcome would have been nice

Good location [although the final access to the hotel is down a gravel drive]. We had a nice room / bathroom and the hotel had a nice swimming pool [although it was too cold to swim when we were there]. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was good.

We were given a traditional Bulgarian breakfast: Mekitsa [like fluffy flat doughnuts] cheese and jam. It was very nice but no other choice was offered and this might not suit everyone. The bed was very comfortable except the pillows that were awful. The owner / manager was very dour / uncommunicative. He hardly spoke to us [and although that might be because his English was poor he didn't smile either.]

A magic place

A quiet place near to a river running from the mountain too, peaceful, birds sounds and fresh air. Thank you for sharing the story of the monks and monastery with us. Grilled pig ears and pork kavarma cook by the host was nice. Bed was comfortable. It was raining, otherwise we could do a trekking nearby. Should got chance in the future, sure we will stay here again.

Excellent place

Quiet location and mountain views. Swimming pool. Very good food. Road to the place is not a motorway :) but after quick research in GoogleMaps you'll find it. The place was a really positive surprise for us.

Comfy cosy hotel.

Friendly and comfortable. Excellent cooked breakfast. Plenty of coffee. Freshing Swimming pool in the evening after a long walk. Quiet rooms. Excellent restaurant in the evening. Small number of guests and cosy atmosphere. Just a walk to the Bachgovo monastery and also the hikes up the mountains. Definitely would go there again.

not really worth the money

close to the monastery i guess. pool looks nice (was however not an option in April

cant say i was thrilled. The road / street to the acomodation was very narrow and in bad quality. I could not loose the feeling I was not a "wanted guest" - we had to leave earlier (7am) so the breakfast we got was a sandwich (bread-ham-bread). If i would know that, I would save money and go for an accomodation without breakfast. The room was a bit old and would need some refurbishment

Real Magic in the Rhodopes

If you like unfettered nature, located in a small village through which a river gushes, and close to a beautiful monastery, the Magic of the Rhodopes is for you. It is a family run establishment and one feels the homely atmosphere. It is laid back but service is good and prices not over the top. Unlike in other places, our room had a bath! There is a big pool and patrons sit around it under umbrellas all day. Because it is relatively at high altitude (for Europeans) the air is crisp and it cools down properly at night. Apart from the monastery, driving into the mountains to see the Wonderful Bridges as well as the Ancient Road is a must. Best is to stay 2 nights.

Not bad, it could be much better.

The breakfast was quite basic, probably a matter of taste, too but not what I usually have for breakfast. The coffee was good.

Information on how to get there was scarce. I don't know if I made a mistake when I copied the address available on the Booking website (80 Osvobozhdenie street, Bachkovo, 4251, Bulgaria) into the google maps app on my phone or there was a system malfunction, but we were initially taken to another location (1 hour drive away). In a second stage we arrived in the locality, but it was impossible to understand how to get to this place, the owner had to drive to our location and guide us. So, to make things easier for others, the coordinates are as follows: 41.9447203, 24.8500608.

The view of the mountain is amazing, pretty calm, staffs were pretty nice and respectful.

The room we received had a small defect, especially the bed one. Unfortunately, the mattress was not comfortable. Once you start laying down, the other side is lifting up. There is an issue with the balance.

Beautiful area to visit with very welcoming hotel tucked away from the main street, ample parking.

Lovely traditional building with large rooms. Overlooking pool and woods beyond. Hotelier very welcoming and spoke good English. Food was smashing.

Did not realise just how terrible the road was. Went to the monastery and was disappointed as though it was meant to be open the app was not working so I did not understand anything about it. A few of the rooms were not open and I was told in a while they would be.

Very nice

Very nice house. I think, it would be very nice to stay here during a summer. We had a big and bright room. Breakfast was not varios but tasty and satisfying. And no problem with staing with a pet.

Very good

The location is really great, close to monastyre and with nice views. Food was very tasty with a variety of regional dishes. Host was helpful and responsive.

In one of the rooms the smell from the drain in the bathroom was bad, in the other room it was ok.
