Vila Bachkovo

A kilátás, a hegyek közti hőmérséklet, a tradicionális épületek,a csend, a nyugalom minden kifogástalan.A kisbolt. A patak hangja. A kápolnácskák. A kis étterem. Dora kedvessége és a segítőkészségük a fiával. Gyönyörű hely az elvonuláshoz, a feltöltődéshez, a szakrális élmény megéléséhez a hegyekkel körbevett környezet. A kert békéje, a körtefa. Egy festői látkép és a nyugalom kis óarany hajója a hegyen. Vissza fogok menni.

An amazing place in the small village of Bachkovo. Lovely friendly welcome despite my lack of Bulgarian although the owner arrived later and spoke perfect English. This apartment is right at the top end of the village. There are 82 steps plus a long slope if you go direct or you can follow the winding lanes for an easier walk. But the view of the forested mountains from the balcony and the peace and quiet (apart form birdsong and thunder claps) makes the effort worthwhile. The bus stops at the bottom of the slope and the monastery is 10 minutes walk on a footpath by the river. The restaurant at the bottom of the stairs seems to shut fairly early but food is available later near the monastery. The apartment has a shared area with a kettle, microwave, filtered water and coffee and tea. Room was very comfortable with a big bed and chairs on the balcony. This was just a wonderful stay.

Shower is a wet room but a provided 'mop' makes it easy to get rid of water. The steps are part of the beauty and wandering through the village was a real plus, but they are hard work.

The host was a very welcoming, good hearted older lady who spoke no English, but was great at sign language and phoned her son who spoke English to help answer a few questions. She also gave us a plate of fresh figs from her tree. Quiet, comfortable room in a quaint village with narrow, cobbled streets and many old stone houses, although ours wasn’t. There is a coffee and tea provided at a station in the hallway for everyone to use.

Had trouble finding it, but basically you look for the orange three story square building at the top of the hill. It is a tiny village with only a minimart at the bottom of the hill that is open until six.
