The private baths were great with the open air. We also enjoyed the free tickets to the public onsen next door very much. The views and fresh mountain air were exceptionally nice! The room was also huge, much larger than any room I've had in Japan.
I wish the indoor shared bath in the hotel had open windows as the air was a bit stagnant. It would also be nice if the private baths had lower privacy screens so more of the view and fresh air could be enjoyed.

I was surprised to find we could reserve the private baths once a night for free. They were incredibly accommodating, everything was beautiful. We had plans to go into Nagoya but instead spent the day exploring the area, there is a little nature hike behind the onsen, and then soaking in the baths. The food was phenomenal, exactly what I was looking for in a ryokan experience.
