Georges Hostel & Café

I can't say enough good things about the staff here. Staying at Georges was a last minute "recovery from disaster" experience. I was on a 10 day Bordeaux to Sete bicycle tour and had two enormous bicycle cases with me - and our case transport plans from Bordeaux to Sete fell through. I booked an overnight round trip rail ticket and took the cases with me without any firm plan as to where to store the cases. Complete "wing and a prayer" that something would work out. On the train, at 9pm, I booked a room at Georges. I arrived there at nearly midnight after communicating with the staff once or twice. Iraj, the person at the front desk, was stellar - a true savior. Georges not only agreed to store these cases for the 10 days it would take my wife and I to bike from Bordeaux to Sete, they refused to charge for that storage. Iraj also helped me find food at 10 minutes past midnight because I hadn't eaten in half a day. My room was a dorm room and of course that meant a shared bathroom down the hall, but for 36 euros, it was an amazing last minute deal. I slept, got up at 4:30 am, got to the train station and got back to Bordeaux to start our journey only an hour later than initially planned. In short, Georges is one of those rare finds which truly restores your faith that there are genuinely good people on this earth who enjoy helping complete strangers. This place deserves business - even if you don't stay here, come to the cafe and enjoy!

The person on the next bunk who snored. Good news - I was so tired, it didn't matter! The bed was comfy and it wasn't long before I fell asleep. Not something Georges can be held accountable for!

One of the best hostels I have stayed in for some time. The staff were friendly and approachable, socialable bar area. The hostel attracted an older group (I am 50 so I still like to backpack) lots of cyclists, hikers. The rooms were huge, so although it was a large dormitory plenty of space. Toilets and showers were separate in a large block, which I prefer than people in / out of one in the room. It had option to have their breakfasts or cooks your own.

I cant find anything I didn't like, only that it's popular it's hard to get a room!

Clean well equipped hostel with good space for relaxing, well equipped kitchen and excellent location, excellent cafe and friendly helpful staff

Very good atmosphere, kind and friendly staff. Good location, typically French, locals dropped in for their quick morning coffee at the bar. We loved it for an overnight stay with the family

Parking: you can un/load baggage in front of the building, but have to park the car at a local car parking garage (8 min walking)
