We spent four nights at this property in late September - early October 2022. We drove from Lyon via Villefranche and Beaujeu, and arrived at the anticipated time. The directions provided by the owner were clear and precise, and we had no difficulty in finding the farmhouse. It is located in a small hamlet called Les Jacquets in Haut-Beaujolais, a few kilometres north-west of the village of Monsols in the Deux-Grosnes commune. The house is delightful - spacious, cosy, warm and comfortable, set in a bucolic location with scenic views across pasture to the hills beyond. Despite having to bring the house back into use by opening all the shutters (a romantic task in itself), its most attractive characteristic is the sense that it is a cherished and much-loved home. The kitchen-diner is well-lit and well-equipped, and the adjacent shower-room / utility room convenient. The cooking facilities are easily understood and work well. The living room has a log-burner which cleverly also lights and heats the kitchen-diner. We had no need to use it as the weather was mostly fine and the house warm. The wi-fi worked without a hitch, and the living room entertainment facilities included a DVD player and a range of subscription channels, of which Amazon Prime was a welcome refuge from the entirely Francophone terrestrial television. Upstairs are two large bedrooms, both with lovely views. The master bedroom is en-suite and enormous, with a suitably sized bed in which we slept very well. The property is individually gated and we felt very secure, despite the remote location. Also outside is an attractive patio area overlooking a nearby duck pond, also part of the property. Our only caveat was the confusion over the entry process. Because no access instructions were provided, we expected to be met on arrival, and when no-one was there it caused unnecessary stress and anxiety. We were eventually able to gain access with the assistance of a helpful (next-door) neighbour. It later transpired that because of illness the owner had neglected to provide us with this essential information. We advise future holidaymakers to ensure they have been provided with the location of the key-box and its code before arrival.

Beautiful House, stunning Landscape.
Beautiful House, stunning Landscape.
We spended 2,5 weeks in this beautiful House, wich was very well equipped. There was nothing that we missed. Stunning Landscape, and the little Bassin gives you Freshness on hot Days. Down in Monsols, you find a little Supermarket and an Bakery, just perfect. Always good Contact from the Beginning to the End of our Holidays with the owners of the property. We can totally recommended it!

Enjoyed our stay. The house was well equipped and roomy. It is in a quiet spot and we enjoyed sitting outside especially as the weather was hot. It is well situated for travelling in the region and we enjoyed the scenery and the villages. Overall a good holiday.

A hidden jewel in the rural heartlands of France

With a storm brewing we pulled into the courtyard at Les Jacquets on a dark afternoon. We thought that we had discovered Cold Comfort Farm. On entering the house we were totally surprised. A beautiful kitchen just as one would imagine to find in a Beaujolais farmhouse, fully equipped for cooking, eating and drinking. Views across the wide landscape to the hills beyond to be enjoyed from the window above the sink and outside of the backdoor are Rosemary, Fennel and other herbs. Moving into the sitting room we found a cosy room that shared an open log fire with the kitchen; plenty of logs in the adjacent barn if required. The house also had central heating so we didn’t actually need to light the fire. There is a beautiful bathroom downstairs and an even more beautiful bathroom upstairs that services two large and airy bedrooms, that also enjoy the view across the fields. A short drive into Monsols and a fine drive to La Clayette (not to be missed). There are good walks to be had all around and especially from the Col de Crie. The owners were extremely helpful and just a telephone call away. We cannot praise Les Jacquets high enough and would recommend it to anyone who would wish to have a very ‘French’ experience.

Lovely home in quiet location

We had a great stay at the farmhouse! The beds were a bit uncomfortable, but that was a more a matter of taste than of any problem with them. The place was beautiful, both inside and out. A bit tricky to find - follow the instructions that Barbara provides to you and you'll be all right! In fact, overall, her instructions for the house were really helpful and the caretaker was very nice, too. The trip was all the relaxation we hoped, with a well-stocked kitchen for cooking, plenty of pots and pans and cutlery and flatware. Great water pressure and temperature, great heating. Highly recommended.

Charming, quiet getaway with wonderful owners

The farmhouse was lovely. It was very quiet, immaculate and relaxing. The owner has taken great care to make you feel at home with comfy beds, updated bathrooms, child safety features, in-unit washing machine, a dishwasher, and a well-stocked kitchen. I don't think I have ever slept so well and the cool temperatures were a welcome break from hot weather elsewhere, especially at night. The nicely decorated bedrooms are very large, as is the eat-in kitchen with a table for 8. The view from the windows and porch is incredible- cows, hills, farms, forests, and a beautiful star-filled sky at night. The owner was very responsive, with excellent English (which was a relief since my written French isn't so great) and the housekeeper who greeted us was very friendly and helpful. We were relieved to see clear instructions on using the washer, how to recycle, etc. We highly recommend this for anyone who wants a quiet vacation off the beaten path. One note-- MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE OWNER'S DIRECTIONS rather than your GPS to locate the property! Google Maps kept taking us down narrow, overgrown dirt roads that were incompatible with our compact rental car. It is not hard to find the property using paved roads so don't fall for it like we did.

La maison est tout à fait charmante et le cadre est très reposant et agréable. La proximité avec les vignes et les chemins de randonnées en font un plus. A recommander pour les familles.
