We loved staying at this rental. The house was more than enough room for 2 adults and 2 children. Even though it was off season (October) we enjoyed using the golf cart and having easy access to Lake Michigan. The kids loved the park across the street. We would love to stay there again during the summer to enjoy more of the activities.

We loved the open kitchen layout and the screened in space behind the kitchen. Sitting outside with a cup of coffee each morning was priceless. I was pretty disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the house. The bathrooms were dirty enough that we went to the store and purchased cleaning supplies to clean two of them. One was bad enough we just closed the door and did not use it. The fridge was dirty and the house could overall use a deep cleaning. Overall though, we enjoyed the house and our stay!

The house was in the perfect location. We could walk the boardwalk to the pool and beach or drive the golfcart. Lake Michigan is across the street from the resort and had an amazing beach. The house was also close to a really awesome playground.

My family & I had a Great time here - the house was big enough for 11 of us & there was lots to do for everyone- our weather was perfect & we enjoyed having a fire making s’mores at night. The house was a great location as water activities where just behind us. The kids loved taking a ride on the Golf Cart & that came in handy. I would go back & we may next year.

The family room and kitchen area was large enough for everyone to hang out in. The patio off of the kitchen was our favorite part of the home. We watched beautiful sunsets and sat out on the patio at night. The home is located right by the bocce ball area and a pier which was great. There is a newer built in fire pit out back. The house is also located near the park which was great for our kids. We will definitely be back soon!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We took an off season weekend rental at Wass-Happen-Inn. This was our first experience with a Beachwalk Resort Community. It turned out to be a rainy, cold weekend. With the lakefront view and layout of the house, it served us well. We very much enjoyed our stay. A few previously noted in reviews, the heat/AC is tricky to control. We finally figured it out after enlisting help from the management company. They had to come out to help with the television and advised us that BOTH thermostats must be on the same setting of either heat, air or auto. The other observation we had was that this house has no gutters. With the rain, especially upon arrival, it comes right off the roof onto the sidewalk (and you) as you enter the home...drenched each time we went out! And lastly, I would say that the space was clean with the exception of the floors, especially in the common area. With the construction going on directly next door, perhaps it is just coming in. Recommend perhaps tucking in a Swiffer wet mop so that renters can easily touch up. Bottom line...great stay, great property, easy check-in and out. I would highly recommend a stay, especially in the off-season to enjoy a quiet getaway. In season looks like it would be definitely a Happen-Inn!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wass-Happen-Inn is a spacious, clean, and comfortable rental. It is tastefully decorated and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Our stay was at the end of September. During the week it was very peaceful and quiet. On the weekend, not so much. The balcony overlooking the lake was our favorite place to hang out. We were lucky that the adjacent rental was vacant during our stay. If another group had been there the balcony wouldn’t have felt as cozy and private. The community shuffleboard court and kayak launch between the house and the lake detract from the view. During the busy season they would be a source of intrusive activity and noise. Parking for two cars plus the golf cart was tight, made more so by the overgrown foliage alongside the parking pad. The front yard needs some attention. It was simply a tangle of weeds and a few abandoned basketballs. The management team was friendly and very responsive in addressing any issues we had. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We would recommend this rental before Memorial Day or after Labor Day to anyone seeking a quiet and peaceful vacation.

Stayed here with 2 families of 4; 4 adults, 4 children aged 6-10. House was very clean upon arrival with bath towels ready to go. House is located adjacent to a neighborhood accessible dock. Parking available for 2 cars, and the golf cart included was a cool plus. House layout was great for us, easy set up for 2 kids in 1 room, 2 kids in another. Master type bedroom upstairs, Jack n Jill type set up downstairs where a pair of adults can share a full bathroom with the bunk bed room. View of the pond was awesome, with a small private backyard of sand the kids loved to play in. Also has a fire pit that was fine. We ran into an issue with the thermostat in this house. 2 nights in a row woke up and the upstairs was 88 degrees and the heat was still running. For some reason there is a thermostat upstairs and a thermostat downstairs, both controlling the whole unit. There is some sort of logic I couldn’t figure out, even after taking maintenance advice after the first night to prevent it from happening again. I was beyond frustrated, as we had 4 children trying to sleep when it was 88 degrees in the house .. 2 nights in a row. Won’t be renting this place again, and highly recommend for the rental agency to fix the thermostat issue. It shouldn’t take instructions or a learning curve to understand how to regulate the temperature.

Property was beautiful and great. Perfect for a weekend getaway with the girls. Only downfall was that the property was listed that it sleeps 14 and there were only enough beds for 12. There were two cots in the closet, but neither of them had mattresses. Other than that, the amenities were great, and the location couldn't have been better. The neighborhood is adorable and we had a great time!

We had a great time at Wass Happen Inn. The deck had a lovely view of the lake and was an easy launch point for our kayaks and stand up paddle board. There were a ton of bugs at night, so a screened in porch would have been nice. We also enjoyed the fire pit! We had to use the pull out couch and were missing sheets for it, but management came by right away with sheets after we called and were super nice. Our 6 year old loved the nearby park with “obstacle course” and the golf cart came in handy for getting the grandparents and supplies to/from the beach.

The beach was a great time, close to the zoo which was a nice outing for a day when we all needed a water break, and kayaking was a surprise favorite!. Only suggestions are: keep the ice cream place open past 7pm and maybe add in a little cafe. But really those are so minor. We absolutely loved our stay. Hope to come back in the future.

Nice location and property. Vacation home is newly refreshed and clean. The views of Lake Kai are beautiful. Linen service was great to have and the kitchen was well stocked (probably need new pots/pans or at least remember to bring non-stick spray). The management also leaves bar and pump soap, dish soap, garbage bags, and laundry soap for your use. Beds were SUPER comfy and the property adds in extra blankets which is nice for chilly nights. Also a broom and 2 vacuum cleaners are in the home to clean up sand tracked in.The resort is close to the outlets, access to Lake Michigan, the Indiana Dunes National Park, and the golf cart is great. The resort has a cute sandwich, ice cream, coffee shop on site next to the pool which has great offerings and not super expensive. Cute souvenirs, too! If you want to fish-you have the option off the boardwalk. A ton of folks were during our stay, and the house has fishing gear.PS: If you haven’t been to Lake Michigan before-be prepared for a beautiful clear blue lake with sugar sand beaches. No shells, but awesome tumbled stones. It was chilly in May, but we waded anyway. I would imagine during prime season that the beach gets packed with people. The closer you get to the lighthouse, the more people you’ll see.The Beachwalk staff were helpful and friendly. Now for the stuff other travelers should know about…the houses are close and if you get a home next to you with loud people like us-it will likely ruin your chill vacation vibes (happened to us). Also, the pics online look like the home’s property goes out to the lake-it doesn’t. It also looks like there’s nothing behind the house, there is. The resort has built a bocce ball and a shuffleboard court behind the home which brings more people (and yelling) all day and evening . Listening to other owners, this is new and so is the kayak launch point behind this property. We got to listen to awkwardly flirting teens out on the courts all night which was hilarious but annoying. The house also is next to the (I suspect new) resort public access path-so ppl are walking up and down next to the house all day/eve. Be prepared for no privacy at the firepit. Looks like they are building a privacy fence between this house and the one next door-so that may help.If you’re looking for peace and quiet on vacation, this property will NOT do it for you. All in all, we had a good time but after 4 days we were ready to go home again.
