Mouraria House Central and Quiet with a Balcony

Great communication with the hosts. They allowed us to drop our luggage before check in which meant we didn’t have to drag our suitcases around the cobbled streets. The apartment was spotless , we were a little worried about the outside noise but it settled in the evening ( and I alway use earplugs). We both slept well in the very comfortable beds. Bathrooms were clean, shampoo and shower gel provided ( and a decent hairdryer). We initially felt a little intimidated at night , there were quite a few men hanging about in the side roads and clear drug activity , but we arrived very tired and from the quietness of The Azores. We kept to main streets when dark and felt comfortable. It’s close to the Metro which we used a lot and a many restaurants close by. I’d definitely stay again.

The door key /lock was tricky but we cracked it in the end .

Slight issue on arriving as hadn’t been cleaned but immediately rectified by hosts who were very apologetic

In a good location in regards to tourist spots whilst being quiet enough at night time. Great size of flat and balcony was great. 2 bathrooms were brilliant. Had everything that was needed for a comfortable stay.

The surrounding area isn’t the nicest with people hanging about however I didn’t feel unsafe. The shower took a while to drain.

Location is good - walking distance to Alfama center and not far away from Lisbon activities.

There is quite a lot to do to raise the standard higher up. Just to mention only a few things like: The lines in floor in the area of ​​the thresholds are dirty. There is a lack of counter space in the toilets/restrooms. Kitchen lightning is poor. Looking out through the kitchen/bedroom windows makes you feel sick because of the dirtiness in the backyard.
