Spacious Renovated 18th-Century Farmhouse in Rural Slovenia
Escape to the peaceful Slovenian countryside and stay in this beautifully restored 18th-century farmhouse, originally a traditional village inn. Lovingly renovated in 2013, the house combines authentic character with modern comfort, making it the perfect retreat for families, friends, or larger groups looking to relax and enjoy nature.
Located in the idyllic village of Ponikve on the scenic Šentviška Plateau, the property is surrounded by rolling green countryside, offering excellent walking, cycling, and outdoor activities. The crystal-clear Idrijca and Soča Rivers are just 8 km away, where guests can enjoy swimming, fly fishing, kayaking, and other outdoor adventures.
The House
With 290 m² of living space over two floors, the farmhouse comfortably accommodates larger groups while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Ground Floor
The spacious living area features:
- Comfortable sofas
- Traditional open fireplace
- Flat-screen satellite TV with USB connection
- DVD and CD player
- Stereo system
- Piano
- Free Wi-Fi
A large dining table seats up to 10 guests, making it ideal for shared meals.
The fully equipped open-plan kitchen includes:

only I missed a nice outdoor sitting place.
Be aware to drive about 20 min from the main road to this place. A top bathing spot at the banks of the Idrija on the bottom of the hill.

The house itself is large and spacious and perfect for larger gatherings. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. The kids really enjoyed the park being next-door.The village itself is quiet and about 20 minutes from town up a steep and winding mountain road. Be sure to buy supplies before you reach the property. Although there is a dishwasher and laundry facilities, you will need to bring your own hand soap, dish and laundry detergent, paper towels, and other basics your group may need, as these are not provided. Also make sure to bring sufficient cash to pay the tourist tax, which will be collected upon check-in.It was unusually hot during our stay, and there were only three fans for five bedrooms. There is also a musty smell and areas of the walls that are wet and bubbling paint. Several of us experienced allergy-like symptoms while in the house. Overall few issues with the property, however. The major issue was with the owner. One of our small children had an accident in the bed the last night, and we checked out without knowing. The owner was understandably upset - we were mortified and apologized profusely. We felt terrible and would never have left that intentionally. It was an unpleasant and unfortunate incident, but he was rude and nasty towards us. It ended the stay on a sour note when it could have been amicable.
