Everything! Beautiful cottage with great amenities

Soap!!! Just a little bar in loo and bathroom ?!! And washing up liquid/ a couple of centimetres? Two or three dishwasher tablets… these little things make a huge difference! My sister lives in the village so we could borrow from her but at these prices it isn’t a lot to ask for a couple of very basic essential items?

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and would return again in the future.

The location was spectacular, peaceful and epic views from the south facing windows and veranda. The bed linen and towels were clean and fresh. The barn conversion has been done to a high standard with good sound insulation from neighbouring accommodation. Parking was simple and ample. Fanatstic kitchen space and facilities and great bathroom quality. The kitchen has a great 5 range cooker, spacious fridge/freezer, ample food storage spaces, and well stocked kitchen utensils and equipment. Provision of handsoap, washing up liquid, and dishwasher tablets was a great bonus. Collection of keys was simple. I would recommend "The Barn" as a great place to stay for enjoying the Lakes and accessing Kendals shoppings amenities and the Peak district.

On first appearances the ground floor areas appeared clean, however we found that it could have been better. Although the listing states pet friendly, I would expect the mouse poo to be cleanesed from kitchen and w.c floors, and pet hair has permeated the thick shagpile living room carpet. The wifi is particularly poor, (several insecure networks available, downstairs router didn't work), I found faster connectivity using my mobile phone placed in the window to gain two bars of 4G! Non stick-frying pans were not usable. Rust and cremated food have destroyed the coating. Mattresses were a bit soft for our preference, also the springs could be felt. Some flexibility in check-in and out times would be appreciated when possible as travel times can be unpredictable (we drove 300 miles from south coast England)
