A nice, little hidden gem in Funes
We stayed at Pension Sonia as part of our trip through the Dolomites, and it was a wonderful experience! Although the room was quite traditional in its décor and furnishings, the host gave us a room with an absolutely phenomenal view of the mountains. The location is peaceful and scenic, with plenty of nearby walks and hiking trails – it was amazing! There aren’t loads of shops or restaurants close by (just a few options), but the surroundings more than make up for it. You’re literally just down the road from the famous Church of Saint John (San Giovanni), and we managed to walk to Geisler Alm and take the Adolf Munkel Weg trail back to the accommodation – incredible! Back at the accommodation, everything was clean and tidy, and the host was incredibly lovely and welcoming. The breakfast spread was excellent – in fact, it was the best we’d had during our entire trip! There was also ample (and free) parking right outside the apartments, which saved us a fortune on parking for the nearby walks. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here!
Aesthetically, it could benefit from a bit of an update but there wasn’t anything we didn’t like – everything was perfect.

Nice stay with great view
Located in the Valley of Funes with the iconic view. Excellent breakfast with a big variety of salamis, cheese, nuts, and fried eggs. Shower water is great although the bathroom is small.
A bit expensive but relatively cheaper in the area. Need to drive a winding road to access it.

Little gem in Sta Maddelena
Great location. Amazing breakfast! Selection and variety of cold cuts and cheeses were fantastic. Best in our trip! Nice cosy room with comfy beds. Easy parking. Nice and friendly owners.
Curtains in the triple room are not black out. To consider in the summer months when the sun rises early.

We appreciated the central location of the Pension Sonia! Its close proximity to ENTRANCE of the Santa Magdalena VIEWPOINT PATH was an unexpected surprise. It’s also just around the corner from the Fine’s Restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious dinner.
